A Morning When The Beatles Played in the Dining Hall— As I Keep Exploring, Matsuyama Is Slowly Becoming My Town —2026/6/1 (Mon) R8

When I went to the dining hall for breakfast this morning, something felt a little different from usual.

Instead of classical music, The Beatles were playing.

"Let It Be" came on first, followed by "Yesterday" and several other familiar songs.

Since the dining hall had been playing classical music throughout May, I was honestly a little surprised.

"Oh, they play The Beatles here too."

That was what I found myself thinking as I ate breakfast.

When I was younger, I owned both The Beatles' Red Album and Blue Album.

I no longer have them, but hearing those songs unexpectedly brought back memories from long ago.

After breakfast, I went out intending to buy a cooler bag that I had noticed earlier.

It cost only 200 yen, so I had thought it would still be there the next time I came.

But it had already been sold.

I felt a little disappointed, but at the same time I thought,

"If I liked it, someone else probably liked it too."

For some reason, that felt perfectly natural.

Lately, whenever I become interested in a place, I tend to visit it in advance and take a look around.

The weather is beautiful today, so I am planning to do some preliminary exploring around the Botchan Train route and the Dogo Onsen area.

When my husband comes to visit, what route should we take?

Where can we stop and rest?

There are many things you can only learn by actually walking around.

It has been only about a month since I moved to Matsuyama, but I realized that once again I am heading out to do a little scouting.

I thought I was simply walking through an unfamiliar town.

Yet little by little, it is beginning to feel as though I am walking through a town of my own.
