Today was not a day marked by any major events.
However, looking back, it became a quiet day in which I reconsidered what “living a life” actually means.
A new life in Matsuyama has begun. Starting with the installation of an air conditioner, I gradually arranged everything one by one—mattress, curtains, rice cooker, electric kettle, microwave, and other basic household items. The room is now almost fully prepared, and I feel that I am no longer in the stage of “preparing to live,” but already in the stage of “actually living.”
In that process, I also purchased a washing machine and a refrigerator.
I chose a top-loading washing machine after considering space and usability. For the refrigerator, I selected one with minimal maintenance requirements, taking into account issues such as defrosting. With these, “washing” and “food storage” have now officially become part of my daily life system.
Meals are provided three times a day in the facility dining hall, so there is no need to plan menus, shop for groceries, cook, or wash dishes. This has significantly reduced the burden of daily chores. As a result, I realized that much of the effort surrounding “eating” has disappeared, making life itself feel lighter.
At the same time, I found myself thinking again about what life really is.
Eating, dressing (laundry), sleeping, tidying up, cleaning, and managing health.
When broken down, life consists of surprisingly simple elements.
I also purchased an electric three-wheeled bicycle as a means of transportation, and I am gradually getting used to it while considering my physical condition and safety. In addition to going to the gym, I am also planning to combine light exercise options such as radio calisthenics and training equipment within the facility, creating a flexible and manageable routine.
Furthermore, I have been arranging medical appointments using referral documents. Some appointments are already scheduled, and others are planned for after the long holiday period. I feel that this is also part of organizing “time” as a component of daily life.
What I realized again today is that life is not made up of big events, but rather a accumulation of small choices.
Not what to eat, but how to reduce the burden around eating.
Not where to go, but how to make it possible to get there.
Not what to own, but how to continue without strain.
The fact that my way of thinking is shifting in this direction itself feels like a change in how I live.
It was a quiet day, but within that stillness, I felt I was quietly reorganizing the meaning of life itself.
