食べられる森・フォレストガーデンの育て方 (紙芝居)
◎「フォレストガーデン」とは？
果樹やハーブ、野草や野菜が共に育つ "食べられる森" を育てる方法です。
人の暮らしに役に立つ、薬や道具になる植物も育てます。
自然が森にもどる力をサポートしながら、人にとっても魅力的な "食べられる森" を、人と自然が共同創造していきます。

↑ふつうの森
右のほうは成熟した森
安定しているけど、採れる食べものは少ない。
フォレストガーデンは左の方の「若い森」
育ちざかりの若々しい森を真似て、食べものを育てます。

自然は放っておくと、森に戻ろうとします。
その自然の成長するエネルギーにのって、バラエティ豊かな「食べられる森」を育てます。

The forest on the right side is mature.
Stable but less veggies/ fruits to harvest.
Forest garden is the forest on the left side.
Young forest.
We grow food imitating young growing forests.
If we let nature be itself, it tends to go back to the forest.
Following the power of nature growth, we grow edible forests which have a wide variety.
↑ふつうの畑 (リンゴ畑)
収穫は年1回
採れるのはリンゴ
(ふつうは) 肥料や農薬、草刈りをする。
リンゴしかないので、リンゴの好きな害虫や病気が発生しやすい。

General apple farm.
Harvest is only once a year.
Fertilizer, pesticide, mowing.
As only apples are grown, tend to have pests & disease which like apples.

いろんな種類の (多様性)
多年生の植物を (多年生)←1年で枯れない
立体的に植えて (立体的)
「食べられる森」を育てていくのが特徴。
◎
リンゴ、みかん、柿、栗のほか、アカシアのように土地を肥やしてくれる木もいっしょに育てる。
大きな木の下では、ブルーベリーやユスラウメ、山椒、お茶、ローズマリーなど、小さな木を育てる。
さらにその下で、ヤーコンや菊芋、里芋、生姜、ミョウガなど背丈の低い作物を育てる。

バラエティに富んでいるので…
1年中いろんな果物が採れる！＼(^o^)／
一種類の害虫が大量発生したり、病気になることが少ない。
土を肥やす植物も育てるので、肥料もいらない。
大きい木の下で、小さい木、その下でも背たけの低い作物を育てるので、草の生えるスペースで作物を育てる。
ので、草刈りも少ない。

Three- dimensional
The point is to grow “edible forest”.
Not only apple, orange, persimmon, chestnut etc, but also plant Acacia etc which fertilize the soil.
Under the big tree, grow small trees such as blueberry, plum, Sansyo, tea, rosemary etc.
Under these smaller trees, grow Yakon, artichoke, taro, ginger, Myoga etc.
Because it’s rich in variety, you can harvest many different fruits in different seasons.
Less pest & disease.
Because of growing fertilizing plants as well, no need to use fertilizer.
Less mowing: Big trees> small trees> bush plants> veggies (where normally weeds are).

草を生やさないので、土が乾きやすい。
水やり、草とり、肥料、農薬をする。

左は自然農的な畑
草といっしょに育てるので、土が乾きづらい。
水やり少なくてすむ。
草を刈って、その場に敷くことで、それが肥料にもなる。
草があることで、環境に多様性が生まれて、害虫や病気の発生が少ない。
ただ、背たけが同じくらいの作物ばかりなので、フォレストガーデンに比べると、多様性が少ない。

Watering, weeding, fertilizing, pesticide.
(Left) natural farming garden
Grow veggies with grass. Less dry. Less watering.
Cut grasses surrounding your plants, use them as mulch there. It will fertilize the soil.
However, all of the plants are quite similar heights, less diverse compared to forest gardens.

立体的に育てるので、地面の下の根っこも立体的に育つ。
草とり、水やり、肥料、農薬…
耕すこと、種まきもしなくていい。
