Hi, I’m Hiroki, a first-year master’s student in sociology. I became an ICL supporter to share the joy and sense of achievement that comes from working with people from diverse backgrounds. My goal is to help create a safe, comfortable space where everyone can grow together. I know ICL can seem challenging at first, it did for me too,but taking that first step can truly open up a new world. Looking forward to seeing you in class!

Hello everyone! I’m Hinata Ueno, a fourth-year Education student, and this is my third year as an ICL supporter, which I’m absolutely enjoying! As a supporter, my goal is to encourage more students to join ICL, especially those who might be hesitant due to language barriers or unfamiliar environments. Using tools like social media, I hope to promote the variety of ICL courses and show that we, the supporters, are here to help. Hello everyone! I’m Tomohide Yoshimoto, a first-year master’s student in Earth Sciences at Tohoku University. During my undergrad, I took an English-language Intercultural Collaborative Class and struggled at first to step out of my comfort zone and speak up in discussions. However, the ICL supporters were incredibly supportive, helping me break through my hesitation. Now, after three years, I thrive in diverse environments and interact with people from all over the world. I wanted to help others experience this growth, which is why I became an ICL supporter. I hope this class helps you take that first step into the world, as I believe a wonderful "Another Sky" awaits you just ahead. I can’t wait to meet you in class!

Hello, I’m Saki Sakurai, a first-year PhD student in Japanese History at the Graduate School of Arts and Letters. I’ve been an ICL supporter since 2020, and I recently spent a year studying abroad at Leiden University in the Netherlands. With my diverse experiences, I’m here to help you make the most of your learning. Hello, I'm Roberto from Italy, a 3rd-year Ph.D. student in cultural anthropology. My research focuses on socio-cultural environmental change and its relationship with emotional wellbeing, particularly among young people.はじめまして。イタリア出身のロベルトと申します。文化人類学の博士課程3年生です。私の研究テーマは、社会文化的な環境の変化と、特に若者の感情的な健康との関係性について研究しています。As an ICL supporter, I aim to help students achieve their dreams. While much of today's education focuses on STEM and rote learning aimed primarily at passing exams, university education should encompass much more.I believe that university is about sharing, cooperating, enhancing curiosity, and developing one's identity. As an ICL supporter, I hope to ease the concerns of both domestic and international students and promote meaningful cross-cultural exchange. I understand that language barriers and cultural differences can make students feel hesitant or anxious, even when they want to participate. Hello, my name is Aya Tsuruta, a second year medical student! My ambition as ICL supporter is to make ICL more accessible to Japanese students. Many students have an image of ICL as being hard due to the anxiety caused by language and cultural differences. At this point, there must be many students who think, "It's still hard work''. I would like to assist them to find enjoyment in the hardship of learning by communicating the attractiveness of the program and building a bridge for their growth together. I am currently taking 5 ICL classes, including one in my 3rd semester, and assisting in 4 classes, and I find cross-cultural exchange to be very stimulating and fun. Being in a space where you can learn together with people from different cultural backgrounds is a very valuable opportunity. Every small step you take in deciding to take a course is a big step you will take after the class.I look forward to meeting you all!

こんにちは！医学部保健学科検査技術科学専攻２年の鶴田 彩(つるた あや)と申します。私の国際共修サポーターとしての抱負といたしましては、国際共修を日本人学生にとって身近なものにすることです。言語や文化の違いからくる不安により、国際共修のイメージがハードなものであるというイメージを抱いている方は少なくありません。現時点で「やはり大変だ」と思っている学生は少なくないはずです。魅力の発信、成長への架け橋を共に築き、彼らが大変さ学びの中から楽しさを見いだせるようアシストしていきたいと考えています。現在3セメで履修している1コマ含め今まで5コマの国際共修を履修し、4つの授業のアシスタントを勤めておりますが、異文化交流はやはり凄く刺激的で楽しいものだと感じております。文化的背景の異なる人達と共に学び合う空間にいることは大変貴重な機会です。履修を決める小さな一歩は、授業後には大きな一歩へと変わっています。皆様にお会い出来ることを楽しみにしています！

Hello, I’m Hansaka, a 3rd-year Aerospace Engineering student. After taking two ICL courses, including one on comedy drama making, I realized how lively and engaging these courses are compared to my department’s regular classes. Even after completing my credits, I returned as an ICL supporter to experience that unique, vibrant atmosphere again. As a supporter, I want to share the excitement and inspiration I felt and help create a welcoming space where everyone can connect, share ideas, and learn together, no matter their background. I'm Yuma Yamamoto, a third-year student majoring in Sociology in the Department of Arts and Letters.As an ICL supporter, I'd like to help not just with group work or class projects, but also with things like "How can I talk to international/local students?" or "I want to connect more, but I'm not sure how." I want to be someone who can support you through those small worries and help make your ICL experience smoother and more fun!I still remember how surprised and inspired I was when I joined my first ICL class as a first-year student. Seeing international students share their opinions so clearly and confidently from different points of view really left an impression on me. It made me want to grow, too.I believe ICL is a great chance to learn—not just about other cultures or languages—but also about yourself, in a global and diverse environment. 国際共修サポーターとして、授業内のグループワークや課題プロジェクトの補助はもちろん、「留学生(国内学生)と、どうやって関わったらいいの？」「もっと仲良くなりたいんだけど...！」といった、国際交流そのものに関する不安や悩みにもしっかり寄り添いながら、皆さんの学びと成長をサポートしていきたいと思っています

1年生のとき、初めて国際共修授業に参加したときのことは今でもよく覚えています。本当にさまざまなバックグラウンドを持つ学生たちが、自分とは全く違う視点から、明確に、積極的に意見を言語化していく姿に、大きな衝撃を受け、刺激されました。その経験が、今の自分の中に強く生きています。ICLは、言語スキルや異文化理解力を磨くだけではなく、「多様な環境の中で、自分がどう成長できるか」を試すとてもよい機会だと思います！もちろん、慣れない環境で、異質な他者と関わりながら新しいことを学んでいく過程では、それ相応のストレスや悩みもついてきます。そんなときは、ぜひ国際共修サポーターを頼ってください！「こうしたいけど、どうしたらいい？」、「こんなふうになりたい！」、そんな素朴な気持ち、大歓迎です。一緒に、よりよい学びの空間を作っていきましょう！

Hello. My name is QU SHILIN, a second-year master’s student in the department of Multiculturalism at the Graduate School of International Cultural Studies, Tohoku University.
Through my research and practical experiences, I have been exploring how people from diverse cultural and value backgrounds can coexist and learn from one another. As a Global Learning Supporter, I hope to serve as a bridge that helps students from different backgrounds learn together and deepen their mutual understanding. Some of you may feel anxious about language barriers or about whether you can express your thoughts clearly.
But by taking that first step, you will encounter new perspectives and values, which will lead to personal growth. We, the supporters, are here to fully support your efforts.

Hello! I'm Matsuda Mami, a third-year student majoring in cultural anthropology at Tohoku University's School of Literature. I wanted to have more opportunities to interact with people from overseas through international exchanges on campus and studying abroad, so I started working as an international co-learning supporter. As a supporter, I will do my best to be a bridge between international students and Tohoku University students, and to help international students have a fun campus life

I think that international co-learning classes are more difficult than other classes. However, I believe that this makes them more fun and enriching to learn. I will do my best to support everyone who takes on the challenge!Thank you very much

学内での国際交流や留学を通して海外の人ともっと交流したいと思い、国際共修サポーターとして活動を始めました。サポーターとして留学生と東北大生の架け橋になれるよう、そして留学生の楽しいキャンパスライフを支援できるよう頑張ります

国際共修授業は、他の授業とは違う大変さがあると思います。しかしその分楽しさや充実した学びを得ることができると考えています。チャレンジする皆さんを全力でサポートさせていただきます！よろしくお願いします
