#45 The Old Room

I am a room in an old apartment building where the sun rarely reaches.

Fifty years have passed over my walls. My wallpaper has been replaced more times than I can remember, and my floor is covered with countless scars.

Many people have called me home.

A young man who arrived in the city with nothing but a cardboard box full of hope and fear.

A struggling writer who worked late-night shifts just to keep chasing a dream.

Someone who quit a job and started over, searching for another chance.

I watched them all in silence.

"Too small."

"Too dark."

"Too inconvenient."

That was what almost everyone said when they first moved in.

A few years later, they packed their belongings and left for somewhere new.

I never gave advice.

I never offered comfort.

I simply gave them a place to exist.

One spring day, when the cherry blossoms were in bloom, a young tenant finished moving out.

He stretched, took one last look around the room, and gently bowed his head.

"Thank you... for everything."

Then he walked away.

His figure grew smaller and smaller until it disappeared from sight.

In the dim little room,

only the spring sunlight remained.
