SUDACHIDOU is a vintage & select shop in Kyoto, dealing in antiques and pieces by independent makers. From vases to tableware to small objects, it's filled with items for everyday life.
For their 6th anniversary, I made a stop motion animation. The shop's ceramics, glass, and small objects come alive and move to their places before opening time. The owner herself appears in it too.

Each piece was moved little by little and shot frame by frame, then joined together to create the movement.

All the shooting was done inside the shop itself. I used only natural light coming in through the windows.

I'm continuing a series of exhibitions exploring Japanese product design, and this Sudachidou piece is part of that. So far I've shown "MY FAVORITE PRODUCT DESIGN," about stationery, and "TETOTERA," about craftsmanship. I'm now preparing a 3rd one, about Kyoto select shops and their products.
