TROLLEY | VEHICLE inc.

TROLLEYは、VEHICLE inc.が運営するギャラリーです。VEHICLEはグラフィックデザインからプロダクト、空間まで手がける東京のスタジオです。名前は自社の社名「vehicle」にかけたもので、トロリーもまた台車、ものを運んで場所を移動するものです。

TROLLEY, a gallery by VEHICLE inc. They are a Tokyo studio working across graphic design, products, and spaces. The name plays on their own: a trolley is also a cart, something that carries things from one place to another.

依頼はロゴのアニメーション制作でした。いつもは実物のプロダクトを動かしていますが、実体のないロゴを動かすのは、私にとって少し挑戦でした。

The request was to animate their logo. I usually animate physical products, so it was a bit of a challenge for me to create an animation without a physical product.

まず、キャラクターの動きを一コマずつイラストにしていきました。それをレーザーカッターでアクリルと木から切り出しました。

At first, I animated the character and prepared illustrations frame by frame for every step. Then I used a laser cutter to cut it from acrylic and wood.

ギャラリーの展示は頻繁に変わるので、いくつかの異なる背景でアニメーションを作ることにしました。TROLLEYが展示替えのたびにこの映像を使い、その時々の展示の要素を加えられるように。

Since the gallery changes its exhibitions often, my idea was to animate it against different backgrounds, so TROLLEY can use it at every exhibition and add elements of that exhibition to the video.

ロゴは展示が変わるたびに姿を変え、そのたびに展示の一片を運んでいきます。

The logo keeps changing with every new show, carrying a piece of each exhibition with it.
