Moco and the Adventure of Water

This story begins in a small forest,
with a quiet river flowing gently through it.

    In that forest lived Moco.

Every morning, Moco woke up to the sound of flowing water and birds singing.

The river was the life of the forest.

It flowed softly, never stopping, like the gentle breath of the forest.

    But one day…

The animals of the forest noticed something.

The river had become cloudy, and the water was getting lower.

This river was precious to everyone.

    It was their drinking water.

    It was their playground.

It was the source of life.

As the water became dirty and slowly disappeared, the animals began to lose their energy.

    Their voices became quieter.
    Their steps became slower.
Even the sounds of the forest morning
    felt lonely.

    “Moco… what should we do?”

The animals turned to Moco for help.

Moco looked at the river for a long time,
    then slowly nodded.

    画像

Together with all the animals,Moco set off on a journey to find clean water.

It was a journey through the forest, but it was also a journey to discover the truth.

    ⸻

The first place they reachewas a quiet pond.

There, the frogs were piling up earth to make a small bank beside the pond.

But muddy water was flowing into it.

The surface of the pond was cloudy, and it could no longer reflect the blue sky.

    Moco asked,
“Is our river dirty and running out of water because of you?”

    The frogs looked surprised.

    For a moment,they said nothing.

Then they gently shook their heads.

“No.We’re only tryinto stop our pond from drying up,because there isn’t enough water.

    And we’re suffering too.
Without clean water,we can’t swim happily anymore.”

Their voices were soft, like tiny bubbles rising from the bottom of the water.

    Quiet…
    and a little sad.

    画像

    Moco realized something.

The frogs, and all the creatures in the pond, were hurting too.

    One little frog quietly said,

    “Maybe…

it all started because of the giant forest
    deep in the mountains.”

    ⸻

The next place they reached was a forest of giant old trees.

No one had cared for the forest for a very long time.

The trees had grown so close together that even during the day,it felt like evening.

The sky was hidden, and thin rays of light fell softly to the ground.

Moco looked up and asked the giant trees,
“Is our river dirty, and is there not enough water, because of you?”

The giant trees answered in a slow, deep voice.

It sounded like it had traveled from long, long ago.

“We are only standing here, just as we always have.

    Nothing has changed for us.
    And we are suffering too.
There isn’t enough water for us either.”

    Moco realized something again.

    Here too,everyone was hurting.

The giant trees whispered, like the wind through the leaves.

    “Maybe…

this happened because the people stopped caring for the forest.”

    ⸻
    Next,

Moco and the animals walked to the village.

There, they saw solar panels catching the sunlight, windmills turning in the breeze, and a waterwheel spinning beside the river.

They worked quietly, using the power of nature every day.

    Moco asked,
“Is our river dirty, and is there not enough water, because of you?”

The villagers gently shook their heads.
“We are trying to protect the forest and the water.

We use the power of nature.

    But we are struggling too.

Without enough water, our crops cannot grow.”

    Then,after a quiet moment,one villager said,

    “But…
maybe there are now too many animals living in the forest.”

    画像

    Moco stopped walking.

So many voices filled Moco’s heart.

They mixed together, and no answer came.

Moco didn’t know what to believe anymore.

    ⸻

Just then, from deep inside the forest,an old fox appeared.

His fur was silver,so everyone called him the Silver Fox.

He walked slowly and spoke in a calm voice.

    “Oh dear…
    This is very sad.

Everyone is suffering because of the water, yet everyone is blaming someone else.”

    Moco looked up.

    The Silver Fox continued,
“Does the forest belong to just one person?

Does the water belong to only one?

Don’t they belong to everyone who needs them?”

Then he gently closed his eyes.

“What if someone helped the forest and the water become healthy again?

What if that kindness began to spread?

What do you think would happen?”

    画像

    ⸻

    Moco could not answer.

The Silver Fox said nothing more.

Only the sound of the river flowed quietly by.

Moco sat down and tears rolled down her cheeks.

    “I just…
    I just don’t know.

    I can’t do this all by myself…”

    The Silver Fox gently nodded.

    “I feel the same,Moco.

I may know many things, but I no longer have
the strength to do very much.”

    The forest became very quiet.

Only the gentle sound of the river could be heard.

    画像

After a while, the Silver Fox suddenly looked up.

    “…Ah.

    I almost forgot.”

Moco wiped away her tears and asked,
    “What did you forget?”

The Silver Fox looked quietly beyond the forest.

“From the very beginning of this journey, someone has always been by your side, Moco.

Someone has watched over you all the way here.”

    Moco looked around.

    There were no frogs.

    No giant trees.

    No villagers.

    No one was there.

    And yet—

on the other side of this page, someone was quietly looking back.

    The Silver Fox smiled gently.

“You don’t have to do something big.

Just do what you can today.

    Use water with care.
    Don’t pollute nature.
Say ‘thank you’to the forests and the rivers.
Even the smallest thing can make a difference.”

Moco looked up and smiled toward the other side of the page.

    “Please…”
“We can’t protect this forest by ourselves.”

    “So…
    will you be our friend?”

    “Take care of water.
Pick up one piece of litter.

Care for the trees and the flowers.

    Anything is okay.

    Start with one small step.

That one step will surely reach the forest.”

Moco gently held out her hand.

“Will you help us protect everyone’s water?"

    画像

    ⸻
And even after you close this book, the water in the forest will keep flowing, just as it does today.

The one who can write the next chapter of this story is not Moco—

    it might be you.
