The Killers - Running Towards A Place 和訳
昨年のフジロックでもCautionと一緒にImploding The Mirageから披露されていた楽曲。
訳してみて、歌詞の中でイギリスの詩人、ウィリアム・ブレイクの詩が引用されている箇所があった。
文学にはめっぽう疎いので、自分自身これを通して初めて、その詩人の名と、その詩(一節ではあるが)を知ったのだが、素晴らしい詩だったので良い出会いをしたなと思った。そういう意味でもこの曲に感謝したい。
「無知の告知」という詩の冒頭の一節。
"To see a World in a Grain of Sand
And a Heaven in a wild Flower
Hold Infinity in the palm of your hand
And Eternity in an hour"
「一粒の砂に世界を見、一輪の野の花に天をみる
手のひらに無限をつかみ、一瞬のうちに永遠をとらえる」
