Becoming curious about Someone you dislike

No need to force myself to like people I don’t like. I often remind myself of a few things: It’s okay that such people exist. Since we all grow up in different environments, it’s natural/inevitable that we think and behave differently. It’s enough to look for ways to cooperate within what feels possible.

The groups/systems we belong to—family, workplace, local community—are all built on diversity. So rather than merely tolerating or allowing diversity, it may be better to try to understand it and respect it.
Perhaps, because coming from such different backgrounds, they who I dislike and I might turn out to be a pretty good problem-solving team(1).

(1)Groups of diverse problem solvers can outperform groups of high-ability problem solvers (Hong et al., 2004)
