ネガティブな感情の扱い方

悲しみなどのネガティブな感情を抑圧すると、自律神経の負担が増えたり、免疫機能が低下したりして、身体が代償を負う(1)らしい。
一方で、言葉で表現することで、脳が整理を始め、落ち着きやすくなる(2)ということだそうだ。
だけど、先に述べたとおり、自分のネガティブな感情は、第三者には完全に理解してもらうのは難しい。そのことが新たなストレスにならないようにするために、自分の中でそれを表現するのがよいようですね。特に早期のカウンセリング活用はお勧めです。

How to process negative emotions
Research suggests that emotional suppression can place extra strain on the autonomic nervous system and even weaken the immune function (1).
On the other hand, putting my feelings into words can help the brain begin to organize what’s happening inside, making it easier to settle and regain calm (2).
But as mentioned earlier, my negative emotions are deeply personal, and it can be difficult for others to fully understand them. To avoid turning that mismatch into a new source of stress, it may be gentler to express those feelings within myself — in ways that feel safe and manageable.
Reaching out for counseling early can be very supportive, I think.
