    苦しみから逃れる

    先の「嫉妬」にも書きましたが、ひがみや嫉妬も二次感情で、その背景には悔しさや不安などがあるのだと思います。それに抵抗しようとして、結果として苦しむこととなるみたいです。
    こんな公式があります。

    苦しみ=痛み×抵抗 (4)

    差があることを拒まずに受け容れてみる。そうして苦しみを低減してから、背景にある本当の気持ちを探ったり、対処策を考えたりすることで、その差を建設的に捉え直すことができるかもしれません。
    理想との差に気づくということは、より豊かに過ごすためのきっかけを得たことになるかもしれませんね。

    Escaping suffering


    As I wrote earlier about jealousy, feelings like envy or resentment are also secondary emotions. Behind them, there are often deeper feelings such as frustration or insecurity. When we resist those underlying emotions, we end up suffering even more.
    There is a simple formula that expresses this idea:

    Suffering = Pain × Resistance. (4)

    If we stop rejecting the fact that a gap exists and gently allow ourselves to acknowledge it, the suffering begins to lessen. Once the resistance softens, we can start exploring the real feelings underneath and think about how to respond. In doing so, we may be able to reinterpret the gap in a more constructive way.
    Noticing the distance between ourselves and our ideals may actually be a sign that we’ve discovered a new opportunity to live more fully.
