【Ayaの日常ノート⑩】25歳の私が初めて知った「良いお湿り」という素敵な言葉|A Gentle Rain Called “Yoi Oshimeri” I Learned at 25
こんにちは。Ayaです。

【English Summary】
A few days after Japan’s rainy season ended, a gentle shower finally arrived. While watching the rain, a local farmer smiled and said, “This is a good Yoi Oshimeri.”
It was the first time I had ever heard the expression.
Yoi Oshimeri refers to a gentle, welcome rain that moistens the ground after many dry days. It is an old Japanese phrase that reflects gratitude for nature rather than simply describing the weather.
Today, we often hear words like “torrential rain” or “localized downpours,” but rarely this gentle expression. Perhaps our changing climate has also changed the language we use.
That small conversation reminded me that beautiful words often preserve the wisdom and feelings of the people who came before us. Even in the same rain, there is a world of difference between a storm and a “good oshimeri.”
