      <description><![CDATA[<h3 name="3bce32a2-4505-4652-b7d8-aab8c445d29c" id="3bce32a2-4505-4652-b7d8-aab8c445d29c">English Quiz #17</h3><p name="9044c8b5-f12e-4dd1-9053-23ed5a358c0d" id="9044c8b5-f12e-4dd1-9053-23ed5a358c0d">今日はタイトル通り、高校では教わらない、他動詞の本当の定義について、他動詞とはなにかを一緒に考えていきましょう（いつもと違い、クイズ形式ではありません）。<br> <br>文法を一通り学習した高校生に、「他動詞ってなに？」と聞くと、「目的語を取る動詞」や「～をの部分が必要な動詞」と答えるかと思います。高校生の英語学習では、これらの定義で問題ありませんが、本当の定義とは乖離があります。<br> <br>ではまず、なぜこの定義では不十分なのかを見ていきましょう。<br>[説明で使う記号]<br>〇　→　文法的に正しい<br>×　→　文法的に誤り<br> <br>1a. Mary hit. ×<br>1b. Mary hit John. 〇<br> <br>1aの文は、hit (～を殴る)という動詞の後ろに「誰を」の要素が抜けているので誤り、1bはその要素があるので正しい。高校までの他動詞の定義で説明できます。<br> <br>2a. Mary smiled. 〇<br>2b. Mary smiled John. ×<br> <br>2aの文の smile (微笑む)という動詞は、「～を」「～に」などの要素がなくても、不自然にはなりません。「メアリーは微笑んだ」はいたって自然な文ですよね。ですので、2aは正しい。目的語を取っている2bは誤り。これも高校までの自動詞の定義で説明できます。<br> <br>では、次の例ではどうでしょうか。<br>3a. Mary lives. ×<br>3b. Mary lives Osaka.　　×<br>3c. Mary lives in Osaka. 〇<br> <br>3aが誤りということは、1aと同じ現象が起きています。1aと同じ現象が起きているということは、3aだけ見ると、liveは他動詞のように思えます。ところが、実際はliveが目的語を取っている3bは誤りで、Osakaの前にinを入れた3cが正しい英文。この３つの正誤こそが、高校までの自動詞、他動詞の定義では、説明できない部分なんです。<br></p><br/><a href='https://note.com/english_quiz/n/n6c67cbd89d88'>続きをみる</a>]]></description>
