🫖 A Day Off with My Wife — Discovering Yame’s Tea and Calm

Hello🐻 I’m Hamamon, a working dad in Japan who dreams of becoming financially free in seven years.

This time, I’d like to share a little story from my weekday off with my wife — a calm, refreshing day in Yame City, Fukuoka, known for its rich green tea and peaceful countryside scenery.

    1. A Sea of Green — Yame Central Tea Plantation 🌿

The moment we arrived at Yame Central Tea Plantation, we were surrounded by endless rows of perfectly shaped tea bushes.

The air was crisp, filled with a gentle aroma of tea leaves carried by the wind.

Standing there, I realized how rare it is to stop and truly breathe in our busy daily lives.

I looked at my wife, both of us smiling quietly.
Sometimes, you don’t need big adventures — just a wide open view and a moment of peace together.

    2. A Wish at Fukushima Hachimangu Shrine ⛩️

After walking through the tea fields, we visited Fukushima Hachimangu Shrine.

It’s a small, historical shrine with a calm atmosphere.
We bought a little charm for good fortune — a reminder to keep moving forward, step by step.

I always find something grounding about shrines in Japan.
The wooden gates, the rustle of leaves, the echo of footsteps…

They remind me that success isn’t just about chasing numbers, but about staying grateful along the way.

    3. Lunch at “Kurino-ki” — Comfort on a Plate 🍽️

For lunch, we stopped by a cozy restaurant called Kurino-ki.

The interior was warm, with wooden textures and soft light filtering through the windows.

We enjoyed a seasonal lunch plate, beautifully arranged with local ingredients.

Between bites, we talked — not about work or the future, but about small things:
our kids’ recent jokes, the next place we might travel, and how nice it is to just sit down together.

These are the moments that remind me why I’m chasing freedom in the first place.

    4. Sweet Tea Time at Ushijima Seicha Keyaki Street Café 🍡🍵

Sticky, sweet Dango paired with a cup of Hojicha.

In the afternoon, we visited Ushijima Seicha Keyaki Street Café for dessert and tea.

We ordered green tea with rice dumplings (dango) — simple yet deeply satisfying.

The rich aroma of freshly brewed Yame tea filled the air, perfectly matching the gentle sweetness of the dango.

As I held my cup, I thought about how investing and daily life are similar in some ways:
You need time, patience, and the right balance — not everything has to be rushed.

    5. Finding Calm, Together 🌤️

That day wasn’t about productivity or goals.
It was about pausing, feeling, and connecting.

We often chase efficiency — in work, in money, even in relaxation.

But maybe true richness comes from slow moments like these: sipping tea, sharing quiet smiles, feeling the breeze.

As we drove back home, I looked at the scenery fading behind us and thought,
“This is the kind of balance I want to protect — in life and in investing.”

    🧭 Closing Thoughts

Life isn’t just about how fast you move forward.
It’s also about how deeply you experience each step.

To anyone reading this — if you’ve been feeling tired lately,

I hope you can find a small “Yame moment” of your own —a place to slow down, breathe, and simply be.
