One Suitcase of Freedom: Moving Out in Post-Rain Ishigaki

I see my own journey reflected in the name "Paco." It carries the memories of the jazz bar I once ran in Kojimachi, and the soul-stirring melodies of the legendary Paco de Lucía, whom I deeply admire.

Five years have already passed since I launched my YouTube channel, "Paco's Life," under that very name.
Five years ago, I was in a hospital bed. Feeling restless and stripped of my freedom, I turned to my smartphone to vent my frustrations, and that is how I began writing on "note." I still vividly remember the sensation in my fingertips and the profound emotion I felt upon finishing my first post.

Since then, five years have gone by. My YouTube subscriber count remains at 881, and I haven't yet reached my 100th video. However, I know that beyond those numbers, there are people truly looking forward to what I have to share.

And now, I find myself embraced by the gentle breeze of Ishigaki Island.
Tomorrow is May 1st. It is the day I leave the apartment where I’ve spent the last few months to move into a new place—a place that will allow me to be more myself, more mobile, and more free.
Ishigaki Island has seen continuous rain over the past week, with the forecast showing high temperatures slightly below 25°C. Yet, even this damp, misty air feels like a quiet blessing for my new beginning.

My ideal lifestyle has remained unchanged for a very long time:
"To travel through the world lightly, with nothing but a single suitcase."
This move is not a grand undertaking involving a mountain of household furniture. I have one large suitcase and one carry-on.

While I did pick up a few daily necessities thinking I might stay longer in my current place, my relocation will be complete once I load those into my rental car.
My friends kindly advise me, saying, "Life in Ishigaki is impossible without a car," or "At least you’ll need a motorcycle." I know they mean well, but considering the hassle of finding parking and the ongoing maintenance costs, I feel there is no need to shoulder such burdens right now.

In this day and age, even on this island, convenient delivery systems are well-established. I walk on my own two feet and have whatever else I need delivered to my door. Isn’t that more than enough?

Instead of being tied down by possessions, I want to walk through the streets and shape my daily life according to my interests at any given moment. This "down-to-earth freedom" is exactly what I want to share through "Paco's Life."

At 10:00 AM today, once I finish settling the gas bill, I am heading straight to see the sunflower fields with a friend. I believe that sunflowers after the rain will look more vibrant than ever, lighting up the path to my new life.

Five years ago, looking up at the hospital ceiling, I couldn't have known that the view would eventually lead to the scenery I see today.
Taking breaks, moving slowly.
Once again, I am ready to take another free and authentic step forward, true to myself.
