Athletics and Innovation

The other day, I saw an article about athletics on the Internet. When I was a junior high school student, I joined an athletics club at my school. I was a middle-distance runner and a high jumper. Although it was more than 40 years ago, I still like watching athletics in the Olympics and the World Athletics.
Anyway, I knew about the "Electric Pacemaker" in the article. I searched for it on the Internet immediately, and I found the following video on YouTube.

I was so impressed to watch this video and the idea about the "Electric Pacemaker". In long or middle-distance running, there are some people called "Pacemakers". They are not players, but runners who run as pacemakers for the real players (runners). As you can imagine, it's too hard to run alone over a long distance. The runners can wear a wristwatch to measure their running pace. But real runners (pacemakers) are more effective than a wristwatch. Nevertheless, there are pros and cons about runners as pacemakers. An "Electric Pacemaker" puts an end to it.
By the way, when I saw the above video about the "Electric Pacemaker", it was too simple. As you can see if you watched the above video, the speed of LED lights is not changed in real-time depending on the runners. Sometimes it can't catch up with the top runner, and other times, it overtakes the top runner.
If I were a developer of "Electric Pacemaker", I would design and implement it as follows: the headlight is always a little bit ahead of the top runner. Moreover, I let the lights for the successors depend on the runner. I may use the different colors. For example, the LED light for the last runner is red.
But if we use AR glasses (Smartglasses), we can realize a higher level of support for runners. "Electric Pacemaker" may not be for runners only, but for spectators.
