I'm following a vegan diet only for these three days during the Obon period. I used to follow this lifestyle for several years before, so it's not challenging for me; in fact, I feel comfortable with it because I think it's easy to digest and it makes me feel light.
However, I don't follow this lifestyle anymore. Now, I eat free-range eggs and wild-caught fish as well, but not meat. I had to change my lifestyle a few years ago for certain reasons, and gradually I started eating animal products again.
Some people say, "Vegans look older because of what they eat, they should eat meat!" But I don't think so, because when I was vegan, I don't think I looked older because of what I ate. I assume my body simply saved energy for other things since digestion was easier. If vegans do look older, I'm not sure about this, it might be because they eat too many carbohydrates and fried food.
It's difficult to get enough protein from plant-based foods. You need to eat many Non-GMO beans, and superfoods can be useful as well. Towards the end of my vegan lifestyle, I partially practiced the "生菜食健康法" (Raw Food Health Method) devised by Dr. Mitsuo Koda. Raw food has been popular for about a decade, and this method dates back more than 50 years.I think it's hard to stick to it if you follow it strictly, since raw brown rice is difficult to eat. Actually, I ate a porridge called "genmai cream" instead of raw brown rice. I also think vegetables used to be more nutritious in the past because the soil was more fertile, better seeds, so this method might not work as well now compared to a long time ago.In addition, I think that more protein is needed, although I'm not a professional and I still believe this is a good method. If I remember correctly, small fish were recommended in some of his books.
One of the popular methods is called "四毒抜き" (Four Poisons Removal). I've only heard a little about it, not the whole thing, but I think this method would be even harder for me to follow because I love eating sweet potatoes and fruits. However, I don't find the other parts of the "poisons removal" difficult, since I've already practiced most of them. I think it seems like a good method, and it's a good idea for people to incorporate parts of it into their diet, but not follow it completely, because it can be very difficult to maintain.
Nowadays, many people tend to eat too much. We can live well by eating less. Getting enough nutrients is necessary, but I think most people don't realize they eat too much every day.
Lastly, I want to make it clear that I'm not a supporter of the rapidly expanding new political party.
Please note that brown rice contains inorganic arsenic. I wrote this in English to improve my language skills and gain confidence, assuming that only readers of this service who can also understand Japanese would read it. I'm not sure if everything is correct.
