10:56 am - "Where the Strange Ones Go"
My Livejournal posts are like busses: none for ages and then two come along in quick succession!

Just to let you know, we have finally chosen an album title. We ran a competition over on MySpace to name our debut album and after LOADS of entries, the title "Where The Strange Ones Go" was suggested by Bexi and we LOVED it!

Bexi wins get a deluxe copy of the album containing rare & bonus tracks as well as lots of never before seen video footage which will be a limited edition of just 25 copies. She will also get a name credit it in the 'thank you' notes on the record, can choose one personal item of any member of SpiderBaby's wardrobe and last but not least, she'll also be whisked to dinner by all 4 members of SpiderBaby to a plush restaurant & taken clubbing afterwords - all paid for!

Now that's generosity!

Still no definite tracklisting for "Where the Strange Ones Go" yet but you'll get the news as it happens!

Just another mention of the next gig supporting the fantastic Zombina and the Skeletones at The Prince Albert, Brighton on Bank Holiday Monday 25th May.

£6.
50 tickets available in advance from The Prince Albert, The Punker Bunker and Ampwitch: http://www.ampwitch.com or £8.00 on the door, doors open at 7pm.
This is one gig that is most definitally not to be missed!

10:21 am - Two Spiderbaby gigs: 25th May Supporting Zombina and the Skeletones and 25th July at The Gaff

Hello,

Sorry it's been so long! Been very busy with the SpiderBaby album and non-music stuff. The tracks on the album are getting to a finished stage and we have finally chosen a title for the album which we will be announcing soon. Still have lots of promotion and a front cover, video etc to do...

We have two shows coming up in the next few months – the first since February! and the beginnings of our summer tour.

First up is a fantastic show in our hometown of Brighton on Bank Holiday Monday 25th May at the fantastic venue of The Prince Albert pub supporting the tremendous Zombina and the Skeletones!

£6.50 tickets available in advance from The Prince Albert, The Punker Bunker and Ampwitch: http://www.ampwitch.com or £8.00 on the door, doors open at 7pm.

Secondly, were back at one of our favorite London venues: The Gaff on 25th July. We're one sixth of “The Ultimate Six Pack!” - six fab bands for only £5! Bargain!

Hope to see you all at one or both of these gigs!

5:46 pm - Spiderbaby: Gigs and upcoming album and some The Clockwork Droids info
Apologies for the long hiatus! I've been pretty busy (and not with music or dramatic stuff unfortunately)

After A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum I had a quiet christmas. Have also been trying to push forward with The Clockwork Droids it's a slow process.

The Spiderbaby lads have started work on our new album. I haven't contributed my bit yet but should be doing so soonish. The title is being debated (Shannon wants to call it "Wicked" but Nathan and myself aren't sure).

Anyway a couple of gigs coming up:

Doors at 7PM

This one is really important to us. We've got some important people coming to see us so we could do with all the support we can get!

This one we're particularly looking forward to as the headlining band is the ex-Cradle of Filth Drummer's band!

1:16 pm - Christmas time, mince pies and mulled wine!
Me again,

Well as ever I've been bussy bussy bussy although I will soon be putting aside performance-y stuff in order to concentrate on finishing my undergraduate degree and apply for a postgraduate degree at Drama school (very exciting!)

Spiderbaby had our last gig of 2008 on Saturday 29th November in Southampton (which also happened to be the anniversary of my birth ^-^). It was a fun gig and we made good friends in the fantastic RazorBladeKisses (although I had met Andy once before whilst DJing). We hope to be supporting them again some time soon.

For those of you who haven't yet seen, Spiderbaby have also done a christmas trailer for Somojo.net so check that out and over on the Spiderbaby Myspace we're giving away an exclusive free download track!

Finally, the musical I am in, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum opens tonight at the Brighton Little Theatre. all five performances are completely sold out but I hope to post some promo pictures of me playing the courtesan Tintinabula shortly.

All that's left is to wish you a Merry Christmas (or Chanukah, Diwali, Eid etc.) and a Happy New Year. Roll on 2009!

2:04 pm - Spiderbaby help Children in Need at Hove Town Hall and Christmas stuff
Hi All,

Just a reminder that on Friday, as part of the BBC's Children in Need campaign, Spiderbaby are taking part in a special gig at Hove Town Hall. It's £8 on the door or £6 in advance from the Brighton Centre and Hove Centre, Resident, Rounde and the reception's at Brighton Town Hall, Hove Town Hall and King's House. Come see us at what will probably be the penultimate Spiderbaby gig of 2008 and help raise money for some good causes! If you absolutely can't make it in person, tune into BBC1 as we may be making an appearence during the appeal. Details of the gig on the event listing on our Facebook page and on our Myspace site.

We all spent last weekend recording Christmas jingles exclusively for our friends at SOMOJO.net including a very special rendition of "Santa Baby". You should be able to hear them soon on SOMOJO.net's radio station so keep those ears peeled. We will also be celebrating Christmas and the end of 2008 with some Christmas gifts to our Myspace friends, so if you are friend of Miss Ashleigh Jade and aren't already friends with Spiderbaby, make sure to check out myspace.com/spiderbabyband.

And if you're already racking your brains trying to think what to get friends and family for Christmas, our smash hit EP "The Death of Spiderbaby" is still available. We still have a few of our physical CD's on sale at recordstore.com/spiderbaby as well as tee-shirts (they make great stocking fillers!) "The Death of Spiderbaby" is also available to download from iTunes, Napster and Amazon.com MP3

9:18 pm - Ongoing Recording Saga, Next weeks show(s) and Kitten tales
So The Clockwork Droids recording saga continues. We decided to add violin backing to our cover of the Marilyn Manson song "The Nobodies". For those of you who don't know, the Violin was my first instrument when I was 6 years old and I only stopped having lessons when I was 18. That sounds very impressive but I'm not nearly as good as I should/could have been. I also haven't played for at least a year. we wanted to provide a soprano and bass sound to the guitar's midd-range sound. Lots of takes later, we got some takes Jonny could mix together but we caused a massive headache for him as he had never mixed violins before and the sound was sort of merging with the voclas. That will probably be the next track to be uploaded. We also need to do some more work on Mack the Knife and the mixing process hasn't even started with Just The Truth. But we're chipping away at it - slowly but surely!

Got quite a few Spiderbaby gigs coming up over the next few weeks...

First up there's t gig at the Engine Room Brighton next Sunday (26th October) supporting Lahannya. Doors at 8:00pm and we should be first on so come along!

Next up we return to London's Dry Bar to play with Kirt Dirt and the Loverats for a special Halloween gig on Thursday 30th October

Another gig in London on the 2nd November, this time supporting the brilliant Zombina and the Skeletones at the Bloomsbury Bowling Lanes

Then back to Brighton (well... Hove actually!) and if you've seen these posters along the Brighton seafront you'll know the score:

And then over to Southampton for the launch party of alternative modeling agency DM|UK with RazorBladeKisses on the 29th. Which also happens to be my birthday - pressies welcome ;)

I also finally got my kitten: Sushi. She's a Korat and she's just gorgeous and very sweet (despite being a bit of a noisy sod!). you can see some pics here anyway had better go play with the little monster otherwise she'll be up all night!

11:11 pm - The Ballad of Suzi Brown
The one thing I should have learned by now is that things always take longer than you think they will.

This has been the case with The Clockwork Droids. How hard can it be to record and mix together an acoustic track? Well if it’s weird experimental acoustic stuff… then fairly hard.

Which is why we have only just uploaded our first track to the myspace. “The Ballad of Suzi Brown” was the first song Jonny and I wrote and one of the first we rehearsed. It’s a ballad in that it tells the story of Suzi Brown – a young girl looking for fame and fortune. It’s not based on anyone particular but it has some messages I wanted to get out about how “show business” is shit, doesn’t usually work out the way you want it to. Have a stab at it, be optimistic but have some kind of safety net otherwise you may end up knee deep in it. I guess I’ve seen lots of people who want to become famous musicians/actors etc. and I always think it’s best to keep realistic ambitions.

Talking of show business: I performed with Spiderbaby last week at the Cross Kings at a night called Club Hell. It was a great night which I really enjoyed and I think went down well. The organiser was really nice and upstairs when we were getting dressed there was a kitty cat to play with (only 3 months old!!! Awwwww!) Lots of fans there which was lovely. A few misshaps – Shannon knocking over the mic several times, me forgetting cues several times. Everyone looked fab (even Jon who felt a bit run down) especially Nathan who wore the biggest false eyelashes I’ve ever seen!!! There are some pictures up in my myspace photo album. Video footage should follow (although there have been some sneak peeks on the Spiderbaby Forum.

I’m getting my very own kitty soon. 2 weeks and counting! I can’t wait. Also back at Uni next week. I’m guessing that at some point next year, my music and acting will have to take a backburner so that I can concentrate on my studies.

In the meantime – Spiderbaby have loads of gigs coming up. The next one is in Brighton at the Engine Room on 26th October. I’m particularly excited about this one because we’re supporting Lahanya – they supported Emilie Autumn on her tour a few years ago. Also because it’s in my town at my local venue. Lots of people who frequent there know me. It’s also a bit daunting because if I make a twat of myself then all my friends will see. Also got the Spiderbaby gig supporting Zombina and the Skeletones in London soon… very excited about that too!!!

Oh and finally, I’ll also be appearing in the Brighton Little Theatre’s Christmas musical production of Steven Sonderheims “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum” as a Couresan. It’s on between the 16th and 20th December. We haven’t started rehearsing yet but come along if you can! I’m sure it will be great!

11:20 pm - Next Friday..
Spiderbaby go to Hell!

Come along, it'll be hotter than hell!

Don't forget, Spiderbaby's EP "The Death of Spiderbaby" is still on sale and is fast becoming a undergorund cult hit. It can be downloaded at iTunes here. Copies of the limited edition physical version are almost sold out but the last few can be bought for £5 at recordstore.com.

Also, today Ashleigh recorded vocals for "The Ballad of Suzi Brown" and "Mack the Knife" with her side project The Clockwork Droids. These tracks (along with others being recorded tomorow) will hopefully be uploaded to The Clockwork Droids myspace shortly!

And... Ashleigh's website missjade.co.uk was updated recently. Go along and check it out. It is still under construction but more pages will be added over the next few weeks.
