...I'm not even sure I know how to use this site anymore. Go figure the first time I decide to look at this since the beginning of the year is when I get a paid subscription reminder. With all the insanity that has happened in the last 10 months I'm actually shocked I haven't used this as a personal outlet just to get things out. Too often my other forms of social media are found by friends or family and I start schooling my comments on them.
Judging by my friendslist feed I'm sure most people are like me, wanderers who might only on occasion be reminded of this. I hope all is well in your world.
Now my true decision, keep this dusty old thing as a paid account or make it go to a freebie. It's really sad keeping it paid for nostalgia reasons...and the fact I love my icons.

It's been forever since I've updated my journal and in all honesty the reason I am on now is I needed to re-evaluate my icons storage. For ages I've had an extra userpic package but I can't really justify paying for extra space when I'm rarely on here. So after like 15 minutes I managed to delete 48 icons so hopefully I'll be good when the add on package expires.
That said I really do miss the sense of community this journal used to have. But looking at my friends list, I'm not sure anyone is even around anymore. A few weeks ago I got on here and tried looking for some new communities to join that are more geared toward my current interests, didn't really find many of those either. Which is sad.
If anyone is still around here feel free to say hi.

Okay, so I know it's been forever since I've posted here - well 6 months anyways, but I felt the urge tonight since Dexter finally came to a close. I've been a fan of Dexter ever since the first episode aired 8 years ago and I'm still a fan after watching the series finale a few times tonight. Outside of the DVD sets and 4 of the soundtracks I have the villian shot glasses released this year and a Dexter fleece throw, so I do have fandom love there.
The last episode aired tonight and made me cry, made me think, made me a little annoyed, but it still made me respect the creators that they ended this show on their terms. Knowing before last season the show would be ending this year I speculated a lot on how the show could end and I am pleased the actual ending isn't one I thought of (however I joked about it about 5 minutes before the show ended and that joke turned out real). With all that said it makes me sad so many "fans" have been ripping up the end of the series and thanking the creators for wasting the last 8 years for them. Now I know better than anyone that with social media and the internet it's far too easy to rag on things and publish hate over praise but seeing all these comments makes me sad. I've had a lot of shows I love end and not all of them have a good ending, but the ending never makes me hate what came before it. While I wanted something different for Dexter I still love the show and will always see it as one of my favorite shows.
I'm not sure how many people in LJ still read my journal let alone have me friended that are still here but if anyone is here and would like to discuss the series feel free to in the comments :) Because I have seen all 96 episodes spoilers can be discussed in the comments so people who don't want spoilers be warned.

As the subject says as of 6:00pm tonight I'm officially on vacation and not due back to work until April 4th at 10:00am. Needless to say I'm thrilled with this fact! Work has been just horrid lately - although by some miracle I just barely squeaked in enough sales to actually get a bonus next month. But I just need to get away. Which is perfect since I'm going to head up to Seattle starting tomorrow so I can attend Sakura-con this weekend :) Hopefully the con will go well, I have some people I'm hoping *crosses fingers* to get autographs from, but in all honesty I'm just excited to be back in my anime element with other anime fans.
So hopefully everyone has a good Easter and wish me luck! :)

So...I totally didn't mean to be as silent on here as I have so far this year. I'm pretty sure that a lot of it has to do with being sick throughout Christmas and New Year's and work kinda of blowing the big one so far this year. I don't really want to get too boggled down with everything going on in this post but lets just say that I'm very over my current job. I did have an interview with another company in December while I was sick but it didn't pan out cause the company put a freeze on the position. Then I decided to do something insane and try and get a promotion with my current company to maybe get a break on things driving me nuts...but was looked over. So that puts me back in a really bad situation - but I'm trying to get by, mainly because I have vacation coming up on the 28th of this month.
In other non-work related news there hasn't really been much going on with me lately. I'm starting to get excited about my upcoming vacation since I'll be attending Sakura-con again up in Seattle. Since I happened to have such awesome luck last year at my anime cons (still in awe that I got to meet Todd Haberkorn and Travis Willingham) I'm not going to this con expecting to really meet anyone. I mean there is one guest at the con that I would like to get a signature from (Vic Mignogna) but I'm not going to be heartbroken if it doesn't work out. Right now I really just need something fun and to be surrounded by people that are into anime. As always I'm seriously lacking anime friends, though at least I have a con-buddy again ;)
TV show wise I'm still in love with my Criminal Minds gang and most of the usual suspects. Yesterday was a really great day for TV since Grimm finally came back on the air. For new shows this year the only ones that I tried and am still watching is Elementary (so madly in love with this show) and The Following (but I am a few episodes behind). Walking Dead is wonderful as always - and I've had quite a few geek moments with that series in recent months since most of my Christmas presents from my parents were Walking Dead themed and I picked up Maggie and Glenn's autograph cards from the season 2 card set for myself this year.
I also have to admit that this year I've kinda been going through some emotional mood swings that aren't fully work related. For whatever reason this February was tougher than I remember them being with memories coming up with people that aren't here anymore and anniversaries of people passing away. During that time I did find the cute-ness of Om Nom from Cut the Rope. Since then I've gotten quite a few little Om Nom's to keep around to help spread happiness and have spent way too much time playing Cut the Rope on my Kindle. I feel late to the Cut the Rope bandwagon but at least I got there ;)
Since it is getting late due to the time change this weekend and I'm not even sure if anyone looks at my journal anymore I think I will end this post here. I'll try and post more often than I have been. After all, I do have some things I still want to post about that are fandomy. Hope anyone out there still reading this is good *hugs flist*

| Merry Christmas!! |
[25 Dec 2012|06:28pm] |

I haven't used these for a couple years, felt the urge to re-use them today :) Hopefully everyone is having a great Christmas surrounded by people you love while making new memories. Sadly I'm pretty sick this year for the holiday :( Been sick for a week so far and it just doesn't want to let go. Thankfully I'm a functioning sick person, just have a wonky voice and a hack up a lung cough.
Today my Christmas has been very zombie filled and my parents are being totally understanding with me being sick. Tomorrow is back off to the insanity of work that has been a major thorn in my side. Hopefully the next 4 work days will go by fast and this stupid cold will go away.
*hugs flist* May you all have a great holiday season.

I have to admit that I miss my dolls. I think that might be a resolution for next year. Actually doing photo shoots with them and giving them love. Tonight I spent far too much time looking at photos I've posted of them sadly years ago. And to think, the only reason I really looked at them was all due to a spam bot leaving a comment on one of my old posts on my doll journal.
It's weird knowing how long ago I got them. Scary knowing how much I spent on them since the economy was actually good then. But looking at the pictures...I'd be hard pressed to get rid of them, even if they mainly have been stored in their boxes in the room next to mine.
As much as I can look at photos from my youth and have no problem throwing them out, or other nick nacks I held onto for years, I think at this point in my life it would be hard to part with the dolls (not to mention they wouldn't fetch nearly enough money to cover the original costs). There are a few I could handle, but most...not so much. And sadly I even have dolls that haven't had photo shoots and a lot of floating heads. But hey, the artist in me loves them.

So...I realize I've been just as bad as a lot of people on LJ and haven't really been posting. Which I really need to considering I still have to post a re-cap of my last anime con (which was just as awesome as the other conventions I went to this year). But I actually have a little mini-vacation coming up here soon, so hopefully I'll catch up. Ever since I started having paid time off I've tended to use it to go and do something out of town minus the times I take my birthday off. However, this year I am taking 3 days off (basically Halloween day through the rest of the week) simply because I'm burning out at my job and I have the vacation time to do it. Other than the one day I took off for my local anime con I haven't had any requested time off since my vacation at the beginning of April. So yeah, I'm over due.
Either way I hope everyone has been enjoying October - I am, but then again it's my favorite month and time of the year. Tonight I decided to watch Leatherface: Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3 just for the simple fact I wanted to see Viggo being all psychotic again. Really crappy movie but it's still fun. And in honor, I bring you a picture:

God it feels like ages since I took screen caps, made icons, and a mood theme from this movie. Probably feels that way cause it has been. Although, I do have my photo program on my current computer finally, so who knows...maybe some graphics will grace my LJ in the future ;)
But for now I do think I will run away. Since Leatherface is done I need to find my next horror movie to enjoy in honor of October/Halloween *hugs flist*

I know I did this last year - but you know, after my last weekend I feel the urge.

And I know I haven't posted for awhile. All I can say is life is just running away, still haven't really dealt with some medical shit I need to, work is getting insane and kind of scary, and I had yet another ultimate fan experience last weekend. This year has been emotionally tiring - which I don't think will really let up anytime soon - but at least I know the anime gods are with me.
In short I got to meet Sonny Strait last weekend, aka Maes Hughes from Fullmetal Alchemist. Even better, I have an original sketch he drew for me by commission that has Hughes & Roy & zombies. This is a very very very happy little fan girl over here :D I have pictures to post and things to write, maybe this weekend cause last weekend was way busier than I had expected for attending my little local anime convention. But let me just say that Sonny is awesome. Very nice and friendly, wicked talented, and just cool.
And when I sit and think about everything this year I do feel blessed. I got to meet some very cool and amazing voice actors this year, even met the ones who top my favorite list. And yes, this is my mantra when I have a crappy day at work now. Granted it also helps I have a frame at work that fits three 4x6 photos with the pictures I had taken with Todd, Travis & Laura, and now Sonny to look at :)
Either way, hopefully I'll get a con report up soon, for now I do believe it's bedtime *hugs flist*

So I have my lovely Celty figure I bought at SacAnime still sitting in her box and today I got a slip from my post office saying that Shizuo is waiting to get picked up. Neither of them have a display place yet in my house and what am I doing? Contemplating pre-ordering another big figure that I would have no idea where to display *face palm*
The new temptation is the G.E.M. Rin Okumura 1/8 scale figure by MegaHouse from Blue Exorcist. I love Rin and already have a little figure for him but this one is just so damned nice. I have one MegaHouse figure already (my fancy Edward Elric) so I know they do good figures and I love they usually provide more than one pose for the figure, but just oi. I have no idea where I'd display him, and by golly he would demand to get displayed. He's supposed to come out in December, which isn't the best month on charges to the credit card already, but he's so very tempting.
*ponder ponder*
I may just see another import pre-order in my future. You know, outside of the few items I was already contemplating, like the Clamp Pia book and the Pandora Hearts 2013 calendar *face palm*

Well as the subject says this is my small swag image post from my brief tour of SacAnime last weekend. I didn't do too much shopping but it's kind of become a tradition to post my con goodies. And, you know, I have autographs to show off *g* So without too much babbling I'm gonna jump right into the goods.

And warning - that teaser picture has a lot of squeeing under the cut when you get to it, for obvious reasons ;)

And with that, this tired and admittedly sore (my chiro really worked me today - ouch) Loyal will disappear up to her bed. Thankfully the weekend is one shift at work away...

Well, tonight Photobucket is having some issues. I know not even all of my photos from my convention post last night are fully showing. So the swag post will be slightly delayed. And here I was being so on top of things.
Either way I hope my flist had a good holiday weekend. I have to admit, I'm not looking forward to going back to work tomorrow. As always my job doesn't really give us a break, our work just gets backed up :P *knocks on wood* Hopefully it won't be too bad. And I do have a 3-day weekend at the end of the month for my local anime con thanks to me taking a vacation day ;)

Well in a shocking turn of events I'm actually posting my con photos the day after I attended the con - I know, scary right? :) I'll only have 2 posts for my brief visit to SacAnime in Sacramento, California; this one which is the con photos and I'll have a second post with autograph pictures and swag. In my brief post I made last night before bed I did mention that I ended up going to this convention very last minute and only because I found out that Travis Willingham was one of the guests. Since I had the day off work, had about a week to figure out scheduling for the con and when I'd have to leave, not to mention Sacramento is only a 2 hour drive from where I live, everything just kinda fell into place. This was the first anime con I couldn't pre-register for but I've been to cons enough I didn't worry about that too much other than figuring out the time I could register.
That said since I have been to a number of anime cons now (4 AX cons, 1 Yaoi-con, 1 Sakura-Con, and 2 local cons) this one really surprised me at how...unorganized it was. I don't want to speak ill will of the convention cause I know it's possible they were having a bad day but it really lacked what I'm used to from cons that have been established for awhile. I mean my local con I give a lot of slack cause it is so new and so small, I mean this year is only the third year we've had it, but I know SacAnime has been around for quite awhile. I also know I'm spoiled with big dealer rooms and artist alleys (like at AX and Sakura-con) so the fact I only really had to go around both of these once (and both under an hour) before I was good to go again kinda surprised me.
But considering that my goal was "meet Travis Willingham" my trip was worth wild and I consider it a smashing success :) I even was joking last night to my parents it feels like a credit card commercial: "a half a tank of gas - $23.00, registration fee - $30.00, con swag - $164.00, meeting Travis Willingham - priceless."
So that said I think it's time for pictures and less babble. Sound good? Good :)
Teaser:

( Come view the other goods, including *gasp* a picture of me...Collapse )
And with that this post is done :) I will probably post the autograph and swag edition post tomorrow. While tomorrow (Monday) is a holiday for me I do believe it's bedtime. Night all.

| Fandom Insanity Day |

So as the subject line says...today I did something completely insane and dubbed today fandom insanity day. Namely for the fact that last night I went to bed between 11:30pm and midnight (actually early for me), I got up at 4am this morning with the assistance of con-buddy, was in my car (with con-buddy) and on the road by 5am all to go to SacAnime today and be there before registration opened at 8am...we got there at 7:35am. The sole reason behind this insanity since I didn't fuly decide until earlier this week to go on this mission: to meet Travis Willingham.
The result of my fandom insanity day was a complete success. I got to meet Travis Willingham, got his signature (plus Laura Bailey and Roger Craig Smith), and got a photo taken with Travis & Laura. The con itself was...okay, but that moment made everything worth it. I really do take it as a sign that I found out Travis was going to be there before the con happened and this insanity was do-able between work schedule and life (especially since I was originally thrown around for working this Saturday at my job but someone else took the shift).
I will make a more detailed post later this weekend, pictures included, but now this insane little fangirl needs sleep. So I will end this entry with what I decided earlier in the week. Willow (Buffy-verse) had it all wrong, love doesn't make you do the wacky, fandom makes you do the wacky.

Okay, so I admit, work has been killing me lately. Kind of to the point I really dislike waking up and realizing it's Monday and I have to do the whole week over again. Although, that said, I have to admit that today was different. While it was Monday and it made me grumbly knowing my weekend was already over at least I knew once I got off work I would get to see the season 2 premiere of Grimm. I don't think I've really mentioned it but Grimm - totally one of my favorite shows from last year. Last week I picked up the first season on bluray and spent most of the weekend marathoning it. *hearts all around for Grimm*
On another note I've been rewatching Junjo Romantica, again. I really miss that manga :( Why can't anyone pick that up as a license salvage? *pouts*
And I know this post is kind of fast and jumbled but hey, that's me lately. But now I believe it's time to go snuggle my kitty and sleep *hugs all*
