oh nostalgia i don't need you anymore

wow that last i post i made on this lj was 3 years ago. please ignore EVERYTHING.

I wrote a speech for my Civics course. We had pick an issue close to us and take action on changing it. My issue was the inherent lack of courtesy in the world. And my action was to write a speech. I actually had to rewrite it twice and I was just so frustrated with it. But it turned out well enough.

I'm proud of it :D

Here it is:

I Want Some Courtesy! Please?

Recently, I went to the store to pick up some bare essentials.

When I approach the entrance of the store and I notice a woman struggling with her bags as she walks towards the door. Thinking it the right thing to do, I stand back and hold the door open for her but clearly I am wrong to do so, because when she reaches the door, she acts as though it was utterly rude of me to help her out. She glares me, saying that my holding the door only made her feel obligated to walk faster.

I am left there appalled, thinking that a simple notion of gratitude would have sufficed.

I propose we take a pledge to be polite, to use manners and to extend our courtesy:

The Common Courtesy Pledge 

I here by pledge, to my morality and my fellow global citizens, to use and carry out the manners I have been taught.

I pledge to say thank you to the bus driver who drives me to work or to school, to the person holding the door open, the person who helps me gather my belongings after I have dropped them and the person who has just done something nice for me.

I pledge to say please when I ask for something.

I pledge to say excuse me when I need someone’s attention and when I need to squeeze past someone in a tight space.

I pledge to hold the door open when there is somebody walking behind me.

Most importantly, I pledge to teach common courtesy to those who are not fortunate enough to have learned.

I take this pledge and promise to uphold it under penalty of the harshest tongue-lashing from my conscience.

So this is a bit of a late update, but I'll do it anyway. (Stuff under the cuts contain spoilerzzz!)

Premiere week = meh. I am so upset that I got my hopes up. None of the shows the premiered last week got any sort of wow reaction out of me. Aside from NCIS: Los Angeles. Which is sad because that was the one show that I didn't get my hopes up for. I guess that's why it was so good xD

Oh. And Chuck. Chuck was good too. But you already knew that.

Let's start with Criminal Minds which by all means, was good. I mean it wasn't WOAH SEASON PREMIERE good. But good. The unsub was a total creep. (As per usual. What else are you expecting?)

I spent most of the episode scolding Morgan for his yelling at Garcia and staring at MGG. Who was just. Man that hair cut. I love that haircut. Also, has anyone else noticed that he looks a bit more filled out? I noticed this during the finale as well. But my CM buddy at school denies the fact and proceeds to tell me that I am delusional and obssessed with Reid. And while the latter may be true. The fromer is most  deffinitely not. Right? Tell me I'm right!

And the team was bad ass.

Oh and Supernatural premiered Friday. It was OK. Not amazing. But I wasn't expecting much. I'm not sure if I'm liking the whole Grandpa Campbell thing. The only thing I minded in the episode was the severe lack of Castiel. But other than that it was fine.

Yeah that's it.

ACK OH MY GOSH! 24 MINUTES!

So I watched Chuck on Monday (and House on recall because, honestly I knew the episode wasn't going to be all that interesting. And was a I right? I was right.) an while it wasn't mind blowing (as Chuck usually is) but it was really good. I don't really have much to say about the episode other than three things. OK. Maybe four.

Also, last night I watched three hours of NCIS/NCIS: Los Angeles. Granted, I only watched of NCIS because I was watching Glee on recall but still. Three hours.

I'm not sure what exactly sure what happened in NCIS because I kept getting distracted by Glee (the cover of  Billionaire was amazing) but I did laugh at all the Canada jokes. I think Tony would be very disappointed if he went to Canada and learned that all he knew was lie xD Also, did Sean Murray (McGee) lose a lot of weight? He looked unusually thin.

NCIS: Los Angeles was fantastic. Mostly because I was hoping that Eric Christian Olsen would be coming back as I really loved Deeks in the episodes he was in, in the first season. And now he's part of the team. So happy. I'm also really like where the plot arc is going. I've really grown to love this series in the short time it has been on air.

And I reallllllyyyy want to know wher Nate weeennnnnnt!
 

Wow. Eric Christian Olsen is cute. He looks great all roughed up too.

And OH MY GOD. Criminal Minds starts in less than three hours! I am sooooo excited! Yay!

So I started school last week and hasn't been that hard adjusting to the flip from summer laziness and work mode...granted I don't generally work that hard anyway. But yeah. It's been fun. For the most part, I really like all my teachers. They're a lot of fun and they teach really well too. Except for my science teacher. Don't get me wrong, she's a great lady and all, but I really don't feel like I'm absorbing any knowledge from her. I have no idea what's going on in the class. It's just a bunch of textbook work.

My visual arts teacher looks a lot like Hugh Laurie. Which kind of just blows my mind because he makes the same facial expressions as House sometimes. But he's really nice. Nothing like House. Except he's the kind of person that's hung up on technicaities a lot so some people find it really difficult to follow his instructions. I find him down right hilarious though.

And apparently, tv shows (with real people actors not cartoons) only ever film your eyes two thirds of the way up in the screen. My art teacher told us this during class yesterday and I just thought it was really cool. I came home and watched Merlin and it's absolutely true. Odd. But true. Also makes sense if you think about it artistically. But we won't. Becuase I have learned from experience that non-art-enthusiasts don't like thinking about it artistically.

I drew some shoes over the weekend which turned out really well. Thought I'd post the picture. I was thinking of posting a new sketch once a week. It would give me a reason to draw other than...you know. It's kind of my main thing a school. Every Thursday maybe? Yes? No?

I joined some clubs too...I am now a co-editor of the newspaper which is really a magazine. I also joined this leadership thing that my Civics teacher runs it's loads of fun. We play weird games and we also organize the battle of the bands that the school every year and lots of fundraisers. I am also auditioning to do the layouts for the yearbook comittee (because, yes, at my school you have to audition for yearbook as there is actually a huge interest in it). We'll see how that goes but I need to upload photoshop on the laptop first.
