Rachel Curr - Helping Hands

Hi all, my name is Rachel and I run Helping Hands, a free cleaning service for the overwhelmed. I have had the honour of starting a clean for Nancy (fake name to protect identity). Nancy applied for a free clean, after a little back and forth I finally managed to start helping and my heart broke when I saw how she is living. Nancy lives by herself with no family nor friends near her, struggling with severe depression and anxiety, as well as COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) and Asthma. Due to osteoarthritis in knees and back, she struggles to stand for any time as she is in constant pain, hence her struggle to keep up with the housework. This is all I can share about her story, there is more with lots of heartbreak. She has a leak that we are guessing is in the bathroom, this leak has soaked the carpets in her bedroom (which is currently used as storage while she sleeps on the sofa downstairs in the living room) this leak is also coming through to the living room, where black mould has started to grow. Her boiler stopped working, so for the last 2 years, she has gone with no heating and no hot water due to her financial situation she has been unable to get help. On top of this while at the house taking photos and videos of the property I found out that none of the lights upstairs work. My hopes are that we can raise enough to bring the right people to help with each of the problems, get new carpets for the downstairs hallway, stairs and bedroom as well as buying a stair lift so that Nancy can use her bedroom again and be able to get up and down the stairs as pain free as possible. The clean is going to be shared on my YouTube Channel (Helping_Hands_uk) as well as updates shall be posted both on here and in the videos. None of the money raised goes to pay my wage, all money raised will go to Helping Hands banking account and then to pay for the above, if we hit our goals and have any left over, the money will go towards the next free clean.
