The new GitHub app in Microsoft Teams brings notifications and Copilot together, helping your team turn issues into fixes without leaving the conversation.
Get repository updates in channels, group chats, or private chats. When an update needs action, reply to the notification and mention

Get started
Install the GitHub app in Microsoft Teams, previously called GitHub notifications. If you already have GitHub notifications installed, update to the latest version. Your existing notification capabilities will continue to work.
If you use the legacy GitHub app, it will be renamed GitHub (deprecated) and retired on November 16, 2026. Install the consolidated app using the link above to continue using Copilot in Teams.

To use Copilot, you need a paid GitHub Copilot plan and cloud sandboxes enabled. Your organization or enterprise administrator may also need to enable Copilot cloud agent and cloud sandboxes.
