Work doesn’t always fit in a single repository or session. A feature can span several repos, and a launch plan can pull in specs, designs, and assets without touching a repo at all. Projects in the GitHub Copilot app give that work one home, with its context, agents, and results together. Copilot coordinates the work in the background and checks in when it needs you.
Give Copilot a goal
Start a project, describe what you want to get done, and add the context Copilot needs, such as repositories, design mocks, Slack threads, or notes from a design meeting. Choose the models and tools for the job. Copilot runs as many agents as the work needs and brings back results, such as pull requests, for your review.
Use project automations for repeatable tasks, such as creating a new promo video whenever a feature lands.
For a focused task in a single repository, you can still start a session directly from that repo.
Copilot Projects are now in public preview.
Handle the work around your code
Use context from connected tools such as Slack and Figma to research a request, draft a specification, or work through a design alongside your code.
You can also generate and edit images using natural language in chat.
Let Copilot work with your desktop apps
Ask Copilot to work through tasks in your desktop apps, such as an expense-report workflow. Computer use, in public preview on macOS and Windows, lets Copilot read app content, click controls, enter or edit text, and navigate across apps, including those without an API, command-line interface, or MCP integration.
Copilot asks for your approval before controlling an app, and your organization can disable the feature through managed settings. To get started, open
Settings>Computer Useand turn onEnable Computer Use. On macOS, grant the required Accessibility and Screen Recording permissions.26-94_Computer.Use.in.Copilot.App_v2.mp4
