Installing XLibre DDX drivers

There is currently no available documentation on how to build and install XLibre DDX Drivers.

I without caution attempted to build and install those xlibre ddx drivers necessary for my system, therefore making the xlibre xserver somewhat unusable where input of any kind [mouse, keyboard etc] does not do anything.

Here are the steps i attempted:

• for meson builds, the base setup command for the xserver and the drivers that support it [video-intel, input-libinput etc.]
  $ meson setup --prefix=/opt/xlibre build

• for non-meson builds done with make [input-evdev, video-dummy etc.]
  $ ./autogen.sh
$ ./configure --prefix=/opt/xlibre
$ doas make install

Thank you for creating this thread. So far the above steps look good to me. What does the Xorg.0.log say?

@callmetango there were lot of things in that log, some were out of my knowledge.
I am uploading the log here, as you all definitely know more than me.
The log includes mix attempts of me testing xlibre, failing, and then trying xorg [which works]

That looks like a good start. What is the output of tree /opt/xlibre/lib/xorg/modules?

... this looks all very good as well. How did you try to start the XLibre Xserver?

I should have read this before trying to do anything.
the issue was the drivers not compiling against the pkg-config of xlibre, but instead with that for xorg.
This was fixed using $ export PKG_CONFIG_PATH=/opt/xlibre/lib/pkgconfig

I recompiled all the drivers afterwards doing this, and the xserver worked as intented!

I will report back if i notice any issues.

Excelllent! It also came to my mind that maybe the PKG_CONFIG_PATH was not set correctly. Glad you could fix this and shout-out to @felipec for his guide!

I have completely removed all the xorg drivers from my system, is it fine to install them back?

If you installed XLibre in your /opt/xlibre prefix then it should be possible to add the X.Org drivers back into /usr/.... But please do not use them with the XLibre Xserver since there is no compatibility guaranteed. See Compatibility of XLibre · X11Libre/xserver Wiki.
