Hi, I am Alexey, a software engineer focused on backend platforms, distributed systems, security, and developer tooling. I build reliable services and practical tools that make complex systems easier to operate and work with.
- Backend and platform services that need to be robust, operable, and secure.
- Developer tooling, particularly where AI coding agents meet real workflows.
- Programming-language theory and hands-on exploration with Erlang, Rust, Go, Python, and Kotlin.
- Side projects on hardware, browser extensions, and desktop tools.
I started out as a freelance developer in the mid-2000s, building e-commerce and content sites while also looking after the hosting, databases, and production issues that came with them. Since then I have worked in telecom, fintech, gamedev, and large cloud platforms. The technologies and constraints changed, but the appeal has stayed the same: make complex systems trustworthy, understandable, and easy to work with for the people who depend on them.
- AI Chat Notifications: IntelliJ Platform plugin that lets you know when an in-IDE coding agent needs your attention. It is also available on the JetBrains Marketplace.
- Scopes Manager: IntelliJ plugin for managing project scopes, now with MCP tools that help AI assistants understand a project’s structure. It is also available on the JetBrains Marketplace.
- Codex Status: Compact KDE Plasma widget for keeping an eye on Codex usage limits.
- ChatGPT Companion: Chrome extension for discussing the current page with ChatGPT in a side panel.
- YouTube Extended Title: Chrome extension that adds video metadata to YouTube tab titles.
- Mailspring Toolbox: Small utilities for the Mailspring email client to simplify mailing rutines.
- WeAct Display FS Driver: Rust drivers and a test CLI for WeAct USB displays.
Outside of work, I enjoy software architecture and seeing how systems behave under real conditions. Away from the keyboard, I tinker with hardware, build small utilities. I also like and collect retro computers and gaming consoles.
