Versions
Current release branches, compatibility guarantees, and end-of-life history.
Xpra usually supports two released versions alongside one development branch.

New major versions are generally released at least once a year when ready, with minor updates published as needed. Historical project statistics are available from Open Hub.
Warning
Versions older than 5.0 are no longer supported. Some platforms have additional restrictions.
The HTML5 client works with all currently supported versions, although some features may require a newer server.
Clients and servers can use different versions when both are reasonably current:
- Xpra 5.x is compatible with versions back to v3.1, except Python 2 builds of v3.1.x.
- Xpra 6.x is not compatible with versions older than 5.x.
If a distribution ships an obsolete or end-of-life version, use the official Xpra packages. See Distribution Packages for the risks of outdated downstream builds.
