Welcome to v13.1.0

New waveform seek bar option

Right click the bottom panel and choose "Show Waveform".

New generator / smart playlist GUI

This replaces the old generator UI with a new chip based system. Its fully backward compatible with the old system so you can still type codes if you prefer.

📦 Packagers: Tauon's build system has changed. See building.md. Tauon now uses a native binary launcher.

⚠️ The minimal HTTP control API has been removed, use launcher instead e.g tauon --next. Full remote API can still be enabled manually.

Windows hotfix: Windows binaries have been updated with hotfix for taskbar lag issue. Hotfix 2: Fixed waveform generator not working/remote app sync issue.

This release adds many long standing feature requests. As well as a slightly reworked top panel.

Glass mode 2.0

This update reworks the glass mode supporting native desktop blur. A form of blur now works out of the box on the following platforms: Windows, macOS, Plasma 6.7, COSMIC 1.3 and GNOME 51. Hyprland may require additional config.

Welcome to VERSION TWELVE.

Colourise v2.0 ⭐

This one is great, try it out.

AKA auto-theme. This feature has been expanded to colour the entire app theme now. An enhanced algorithm now chooses a pallet that's softer on the eyes (in most cases).

New widgets: Album Flow and Tab Switcher

Album flow provides a new way to visually navigate your library. Available in custom layout mode.

New bottom panel type

This new playback panel is pretty cool. Check it out by right clicking the bottom panel and selecting "Toggle panel type".

Also in this release

• Radio view received an overhaul. It should be more intuitive to navigate now.
• Discord Rich Presence support now has an upload to catbox.moe option for relaying your actual track art.
• Added DSD support (.dff./dsf) with new audio option for direct DSD output.
• Added two new modes to spectrogram visualiser; Ion and Flux.
• All layouts can now be reordered in settings.

And finally a new icon! This one actually reflects Tauon's personality better. The others were just blobs. (Bonus for macOS users, this one has subtly improved support for liquid glass)

⚠️ Windows standalone users ⚠️: Portable .7z releases are now actually portable and store their app data in the same folder. If you're upgrading you'll need to copy contents of
C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\INetCache\TauonMusicBox
to
\user-data
or delete the file named portable to restore previous behavior

⚠️ Linux standalone users ⚠️: Delete _internal/libpipewire-0.3.so to enable playback over PipeWire.

Hotfix for crash on touch input

Lots of bug fixes that were introduced from v11.

• Fixed a possible Milkdrop crash.
• Fixed columns auto resize in custom UI mode.
• Fixed synced lyrics not showing in lyrics widget.
• Fixed airsonic import skipping tracks.
• Fixed brief visualiser stall on track advance.

Whats that? Just bug fixes? That's too boring you say? That's alright this release does have one new feature:

New UI style: Frost

This release adds "Frost low" and "Frost high" background modes, as well as "Glass+" for full window transparency. All modes are now mutually exclusive so no more ugly combinations allowed.

One of the biggest problems with Tauon was that is was crap and not very good. BUT NO MORE!!! With v11 this issue is fixed and Tauon is good now!

Customisable layouts

Sick of the old boring layouts? You can now re-order the UI however you please!

This release moves the layout switcher to the left side as its own button where you can now add, customise and rename your own layouts. Note the original layouts are kept as is and are not editable.

This update includes 3 new widgets (shown):

• Gallery: Compact
• Track: Details
• Visualiser: Spectrogram

How to:

1. From layout menu: Select Empty Slot, then again select Edit Mode.
2. Right click in empty area and add a Stack.
3. Then add a widget from the 'Add...' submenu.
4. Exit Edit Mode by pressing layout button again.

Milkdrop updates

• You can now select a "Cut Out" option so you can show through album art (on some presets).
• You can now select presets by name in the new preset selector.
• You can favorite presets to put a star next to them in the selector.
• Enabled on macOS builds now. (Performance issues exist with some presets and not all features are supported)

Improved network loading

Remote tracks should now start faster. Seeking should no longer require a full file download.

Other changes:

• You can now search lyrics in the global search screen.
• New app loading screen backdrop.
• Many settings moved to contextual menus.
• Fixed support for large Jellyfin imports.
• Fixed poor performance on settings UI.
• New setting for rounded window corners!
• MB4/MB5 buttons now cycle layouts.
• Lots of bug fixes.

Known Issue: Scroll and touch input may still be poor on some configs.

Known Issue: CI decided to kaput right when I wanted to release so win and mac builds are from a slightly earlier snapshot and missing some minor fixes.

Changes:

• Added auto-search lyrics setting to the settings UI
• Added drag grip to the theme editor
• Fixed track repeat looping cutting off the end of songs
• Fixed smooth scroll not disabling

Tauon v10

Welcome to Tauon version 10.0.0, the most kickass update yet!

This release includes:

• A redesigned settings UI (super cool)
• You can now add items to queue directly from search (middle mouse click)
  • There's a new in-app guide in the search overlay, because who know how it worked?!
• New smooth scroll support (enable in settings)

New layout option

You can now have album art in Columns view. You can also now have the metadata panel on the left side!

Wide mode Milkdrop in Showcase

Milkdrop is now supported in the Showcase view, with a new wide layout option as well.

Tauon's Milkdrop feature is now supported on Windows/Linux, still no macOS though.

New theme editor!

No more messing with text files, you can edit themes right in the UI now, no more having to copy and paste.

Bonus! A new mini mode named Signal (Just for fun)
