In the Mixtape Interview,when he was asked ‘did you try a new genre [on the mixtape]?’ he replied:
It is the “Interlude.” I sing throughout the entire track, but it’s different from the vocal styles I’ve tried. It’s completely a new style that I’ve never tried. The recording was fun. I did all the recording myself this time and I could try new things so it was fun.
During the VLive about D-2, Yoongi shared:
At first I was thinking to put it as a instrumental. I was waiting for the confirmation for “어땠을까 (Dear my friend)” and I just came up with this. There’s a moment when you get a great sound at one shot.
He also said that the song was finished in May 2020, as he always mark the dates.
