As a Nats fan in New Jersey, I get too much Mets and not enough Nationals. That being said, I get enough of the Mets to make the following statement: Why does everybody think they are the clear cut winners of the NL East? Their pitching is awful. I love Glavine and Hernandez, but both of their arms could fall off at a moments notice. I wish Maine well, as I always liked him, but he is too much of a finesse pitcher. Perez? Prove it. Pelfrey is a kid and could turn into something special or could just be a kid. And Wagner at the end of the bullpen is a time bomb waiting to explode. The offense, of course, is going to beat the stuffing out of people, which is why they will remain in the hunt. But I just don't think it's a given that they will win the East. Either that or I'm just in denial and would like to see them butchered in the papers up here.
