Bug Description

There is no easy way to create the trail of only one planet/asteroid/comet. See my screenshot, it is hardly possible to find the trail of the active object.

I would like to propose adding an option that only the trail of the active object is being displayed.

a temporary work-around is to use a version ssystem.ini that has only sun, earth, moon, and the desired object.

A fix has been committed as revision 7246 of the trunk branch of Stellarium's Bazaar repository at Launchpad: http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~stellarium/stellarium/trunk/revision/7246

New config option:
viewing/flag_isolated_trails = false

When option viewing/flag_isolated_trails has value "true" Stellarium will display trails for selected objects only. If Stellarium has no selected object then trails will display for all objects on the screen (previous behaviour for trails).
