2 Years Later And It Still Works
Reviewed in the United States on October 16, 2024This product is the only thing that actually works to catch bugs in the house. Prior to getting it, I'd tried everything to remove those tiny pests from my home, from DIY solutions to the best rated bug catchers I could find, and the most I ever snared was one fly. Then I stumbled across this. I've had this product running in my house on automatic mode (which means it switches on when the light in the room gets dark enough) since September 2022. It's now October 2024. This thing *lasts* and it absolutely obliterates the bug population! I love looking into the bottom at all the bugs stuck to the sticky pad, knowing they're no longer trying to get into my eyes, food, and reptile enclosures.
A few things I have noticed over the last two years of use:
1. It does take a few days for the bug population to go down once you first set the device up. I live in a two floor home with a basement and while the flies do get everywhere, they're concentrated primarily around the kitchen trash so the device is on the kitchen counter near the trash. One device has been enough for my home, although a larger infestation, or one concentrated in multiple areas, may need more than one device.
2. Use manual mode with caution. I'm not sure if the bugs develop some sort of resistance to the light of the device if it's on all the time, but in my experience they stop being attracted to it when I use manual mode. If you set the device to automatic and let it turn itself on and off, however, it will continue to attract flies for years to come. So, if you do decide to use manual mode, pay attention to when it stops attracting bugs and don't just leave it with the light on all the time.
3. Pay attention to the number of bugs caught and the general stickiness of the pad at the bottom. Once it's no longer sticky, it will stop catching bugs and when the device turns off, they'll be able to fly right back out. How often you need to change the pad really depends on how many bugs are in your house and how dusty your house is (since dust can also get on the pad).
Good luck, fellow fly fighters! May your quest to clear your home of tiny tyrants be as successful as mine has been!

No more mosquitoes!
Reviewed in the United States on July 25, 2026I've had the Katchy for almost a year and I can say that it actually works and is a life saver.
When we moved into our new home, we found out quickly that mosquitoes like to hangout inside our house. I swell up and react strongly to mosquito bites so I was deeply unsettled. I started looking into differenr bug catchers and repellents. I settled on this option and I'm so glad I did!
Not only does it catch annoying, but harmless fruit flies, but it is really good at catching mosquitoes! The glue boards seem to last for a long time. The machine itself is very quiet. We have had mosquitoes in our primary bedroom so we've used it in there. The purple light can be a little bothersome while sleeping but its not too bad.
Overall it works great and I would absolutely recommend it to anybody who's dealing with a mosquito or fruit fly infestation!

Broken after 3 months of Use
Reviewed in the United States on September 19, 2026I bought this in July '26. It worked great until I brushed slightly against the charging cable. Then it snapped in half and what pretty flimsy. Given it's only 3 months later, I'm disappointed, especially considering the price point for purchase. I'd considering purchasing again if there were customer service for the replacement part. Haven't looked into that yet. To be clear, I'm saying this is POOR value for the money. NOT A GOOD VALUE for the price point.

I had doubts, but it works!
Reviewed in the United States on June 27, 2019In the heat and humidity of Florida summers, the gnats can drive one insane. This device has a steep price tag, and the description sounds a little exaggerated--like a sales pitch. But fly-tapes don't work--they catch 'em, but they are SO messy (touch one with the elbow of a shirt, and by the time you've gotten loose, the shirt is ruined). Sprays don't work that well--they can't keep up with the gnats' reproductive rate--and you toxify everything else in the room. So in desperation I tried the Katchy.
It comes professionally packaged--reminding me slightly of an iPhone. But once out of the boxes, I became suspicious. It's just a blue (ultraviolet?) light over a vacuuming fan blowing on a circle of sticky paper. I thought, oh, no, this thing is for mosquitoes! I don't have problems with them. But I turned it on. I let it run for an hour or so, wondering if it would catch anything--that particular day there didn't seem to be any gnats (I had emptied all the garbage). I checked it. Happily the bottom is hinged, and with a click of the release, it drops down, revealing the circle of sticky paper. Five captures! I was impressed. I let it run for the rest of the day (again, this was a day in which the gnat problem wasn't bad), and I saw its sticky floor was sprinkled with a dozen or more, including other bugs.
As a loyal American who respects tradition (and therefore never reads the instruction manual first) I ran the thing all day and night, then found out the instructions are to run it only at night!
I don't know about that. I am not bothered by gnats at night. I am bothered by them in the daytime. The unit has two controls: manual and automatic (which means it turns on/off with sunset/sunrise). By now the sticky disc is carpeted with gnats (yahoo!), but if I let it turn off during the day, I begin to see gnats again. My compromise is this: I let it run at night, but if I see a gnat by day, I turn it on manually for a few hours.
My only criticism is that it's quite large--hard to place both near me and near the garbage--I mean, I can live with gnats in the garbage until I take it out; its those that pester ME that brought the Katchy to my home. But life is good. The gnat problem is controlled. It remains to be seen how long this device lasts before wearing out. I does have moving parts. BTW, I've never seen a survey question for "Adhesion" before. Guessing it refers to how many bugs get stuck permanently on the disk (which implies past problems with escapees?), I gave it a 3 because I honestly don't know how many if any fly back out of it. As of now the sticky disc is covered with dead gnats and other bugs, and it's about due for a replacement. So far, it's great!

Solves the problem
Reviewed in the United States on December 5, 2022One day I decided I was a gardener. Unfortunately when I decided to be a gardener, it was already September, and I quickly learned fact #1: September isnât the right time to start a garden outdoors, even in zone 7a. No problem, I have some grow lights leftover from my bonsai tree phase a few years back & a couple gathering dust aerogardens. I decided to start some herb seeds in the aerogardenâs & transplant to pots (using YouTube videos of course). Also came across the art of sweet potato slips. I was like âsweet potatoes for life? Yes please!â
I bought EVERYTHINGâĶnot just heirloom seeds & potting soil, but 5 different types of soil amendments/fertilizers, various pots to see which worked best, a heating mat with thermostat controls, and even more grow lights. And so began my indoor menagerie of herbs & sweet potato slips. Everything was going great until I learned fact #2:
Iâm an over-waterer.
This problem is the death knell of many indoor plants I wager. Women are inherently nurturers. When the soil looks dry in a pot, my plant must be thirsty! Between the lights & the grow mat the soil looked dry a lotâĶseveral more YouTube videos later & I quit the daily watering cold turkey, but the damage was done. The gnats had already taken over, I just didnât know it yet.
I first noticed it when I took a plant out of my aerogarden & a gnat flew out of the holeâĶnever had that happen before. Iâm sure you know where this is going.
I used plastic to cover my sweet potatoes. One day I took the plastic offâĶthatâs when I realized I had a problem. Once again I turned to YouTube & found this little gem.
As you can see, it works. It even caught a little fly! I admit, the first couple days I used the machine as a sort of âair vacuumâ and chasing down gnats, but when I let nature take its course, the gnats couldnât resist that little blue light when all the others went off at night.
There are at home DIY remedies that some YouTubers suggested, but this machine hands down is the superior solution. Itâs efficient, clean, quiet, unobtrusive, and works passively 24/7.
Even if youâre not an âover waterer,â these gnats can & will find a way to infest any area where you have several plants. Even aerogardens arenât immune.
Now, I only see the occasional gnatâĶone every few days maybe. And I have more plants in bigger pots with more soil. I have more sweet potatoes sprouting slips. And Iâve added an aerogarden bounty to my collection.
While Iâm sure proper watering helped reduce the number, gnats were inevitable. Will they kill your plants? From what I understand, no. But theyâre gross, they WILL land in your food, drinks, go up your nose (or probably in your mouth if youâre a mouth breather ðŽ). They are ANNOYING, they make your house feel gross, and I like to watch them die.
Look at that sticky pad. Itâs disgusting! But itâs so beautiful at the same time.

IT WORKS VERY WELL
Reviewed in the United States on January 16, 2026I have had my Katchy for more than three years. I was introduced to it in Vietnam when i was visiting family. I was very impressed and came back to the US and bought one myself. IT WORKS VERY WELL. It is best at catching small flies, gnats and great at catching mosquitos. I have found that it does not catch house flies well, but they don't really bother much. I even took it with me when I went to Africa for over a year. It really kept the mosquitos down. I know that people have said many negative things about this, but from my perspective almost all of what they complain about is user error or expectations that are unrealistic. Keep the sticky cardboard changed and place the Katchy in an area near an entrance or where it can be seen clearly by the little flying buggers. I like my Katchy.

Mosquitos still running rampant in my home...
Reviewed in the United States on September 16, 2026I wanted this to work so badly because I'm tired of being a mosquito buffet in my own home. Unfortunately, after giving it the good college try, my ankles and legs are still apparently the hottest restaurant in town for these little vampires.
Brightness:
The light is pretty bright, which might be fine in some rooms, but it made it difficult to use in my bedroom while trying to sleep. If you're planning to run it overnight in a dark room, keep that in mind.
Ease of Use:
No complaints here. Setup was simple, and the sticky pads were easy to place and replace.
Stickiness:
The pads worked well and were plenty sticky. In fact, they were so effective at catching things that, with a very sheddy dog in the house, I found myself replacing them more often because they collected pet hair and dust.
Odor:
A big plus: there's no scent whatsoever. I appreciated not having to deal with sprays, chemicals, or any lingering smell.
Value for Money:
This is where it fell short for me. Despite running it consistently, it caught virtually no mosquitoes, which was the whole reason I bought it. Between replacing the pads and continuing to serve as an all-you-can-eat buffet for mosquitoes, I don't feel like I got my money's worth.
Overall, I really wanted to love this product, but it just didn't solve my mosquito problem. The pads were great, the unit was easy to use, and I appreciated the lack of odor, but at the end of the day, it caught almost nothing. I may have to admit defeat and go back to a good old-fashioned bug zapper.

Tom5 out of 5 starsSo much better than a bowl of vinegar!
Reviewed in Canada on February 7, 2024So easy to use, and attracts the little black flies like a magnet. Loved it so much bought one for the basement, main floor and the second floor, ..Just check out the picture, that's after a few days. No more flies buzzing around while I'm working. No more flies dropping into my tea when I'm not around.
Virtually no sign of the wee buggers after a few days. The basement 'pad' was nearly full! Any sticky pad thingy will work too, so don't worry about the price of replacement pads...although, generic ones are very, very cheap and all so easy to work with.
Just...plug it in, put the pad in the base, turn it on..and no more fuss! The UV light attracts them..the fan sucks them in (and it's really quiet..simple low lever white noise) and the sticky pads trap them.
Wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

Reviewed in the United Arab Emirates on July 11, 2023I had issues with tiny flies in my flat and this works perfectly. I put it in the kitchen area and it automatically flicks itself on at night, then hums quietly and glows while it does its work. After a few days use I have no flies zipping about and theyâre stuck in the bottom on the paper. Iâll keep it running though just to make sure they donât come back and the population builds up again.

About this Item
- Automatically turns on in the dark and turns off in the light to save energy and ensure it's used most effectively. Shift to manual mode to control exactly when and where you want it to be used.
- Triple trapping power: first the UV light attracts the bug, then the fan sucks it in, and finally the sticky glue boards trap it. No zapper.
- No more ugly traps! Subtle and stylish; easily place in your home, kitchen, or office as a decorative piece. Use the trap only indoors, close to insect-ridden fruit, plants, or trash.
- Not effective on house flies. Is effective in killing fruit flies, gnats, and mosquitos.
- Does not replace pest control. EPA Est. Number 93372-CHN-1
