A NEW DEAL COMMUNITY
ELEANOR'S LITTLE VILLAGE
Arthurdale was the nationâs first New Deal Community and a passion project of First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt. Often called âEleanorâs Little Village," she visited here 33 times and was intimately involved with the community. Arthurdale Heritage was formed in 1985 to preserve the legacy of this important community.

Recipe Exchange & Potluck
Join us for seasonal recipe exchange potlucks! Everyone is encouraged to bring a dish and recipe to share with each other. Family recipes or Arthurdale Cookbook recipes are great places to start but any dish/recipe is more than welcome. Attendees will have the chance to tell the story behind their chosen dish. The theme for this recipe exchange potluck is âgarden fruits and vegetables.â Bring a garden-inspired dish to share and/or other sides that pair well. (All themes are optional.)

Eco-Printing Workshop
Learn how to make beautiful patterns on fabric with plants in this beginner friendly workshop! Botanical eco-prints are made from real plants pressed onto paper or fabric combined with iron water and heat. The iron reacts with the natural tannins in the plants, leaving behind a permanent imprint.

Join us for an evening with Appalachian authors, featuring Ann Pancake, Natalie Sypolt, and Aurora BonnerâArthurdale Heritageâs August 2026 Writer-In-Residence! Where: Arthurdale Heritage, 18 Q Rd.
