Note: a huge apology to persikay, who's been waiting on this story for almost a year. It played with me for months before I finally manage to take control over it. I hope it's worth your waiting and that it leaves you laughing, or at least gives you a smile.

"Garcia?"

She glanced back, "Hey!"

"I came for the-"

"Yeah, yeah, yeah, here," she waved the files in the air, hurrying him inside. "C'mon, it's Friday night and we all want to go home." When Hotch was close enough, she went through the first bunch of sheets and pointed, "Sign here and here aaand here."

Hotch bent over and flicked his pen three times.

"Okay! Done! Now here, and here for these ones. What is this smell?"

Hotch straightened up and looked down on her. "Pardon me?"

"The smell on you?"

"You mean my cologne?"

"Yes."

A deep color of red crawled up Hotch's neck, but he tried to cover by bending over the files once again. "Just my cologne, that's all. There, signed, what about this one?"

Garcia didn't take her eyes from him, "This one on the final page, please, is that Diavolo?"

"Yes it is. Aaaand, signed, anything else?"

"No, that's not your usual cologne."

Hotch shrugged and picked up his bag from the floor.

"I have more than one cologne."

"But that's a little spicy for work."

"I didn't put it on for work, good night," he said, turning on his heels and rushing out the door.

In record time, Garcia had turned the lights out and pulled the plug on her computers. She could fix whatever bugs they had on Monday. Juicy information was trying to get out the door.

"Lets walk together."

"Garcia-" Hotch tried, but she was quicker.

"Is this for the mystery woman? You know, the one you and Rossi are always whispering about when you think no one is listening?"

"Mystery woman. Please."

"That's what everybody is calling her."

"Very imaginative."

She gasped. "Oh my God, is she Lily from downstairs?"

"Who?"

"Lily from downstairs. She's always trying to make eye contact with you, but that was clearly pointless. I'll let her know."

"Be so kind."

Hotch tried to speed up, but one way or another they ended up at the elevator, waiting for it to come up.

"Is she blond or brunette?"

"Garcia..."

"Does she work here? Of course she does not, that is so not you. Is she pretty?"

"Garcia..."

"Her name. Just give me her name, I won't spread the word."

Hotch sighed. In a cold, quick voice, he replied, "Beth."

"Elisabeth, Lisbeth or just Beth?"

"Just Beth."

"What a cute name."

"It's a perfectly regular name. C'mon, damn thing!" He pushed the button on the wall once again. Harder and harder, like that would make a difference.

"Where are you going tonight?"

"Nowhere."

"Staying in?"

"Yes."

"Got someone to watch Jack? 'Cause I'm free-"

"Yes."

"Good. Is she cooking?"

"What are they loading downstairs?!"

"What is she making?"

"Lasagna."

"Right. So you should probably bring the-"

"Wine?"

"Condoms."

Hotch stopped. Turned to find her eyes.

Garcia stared at him as if she had just suggested Champagne instead.

"What?"

"Condoms. You know. Not a bad idea. Since you've seen each other about fifty times already-"

"I'm taking the stairs," Hotch decided, pushing the nearest door and rushing down the stairs.

Garcia's heels slowed her down, but the echo still worked very well over the handrails. "I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable."

"It's fine!"

"You have condoms on you?"

"Dear lord, Garcia!" He shouted up. "That's not appropriate!"

"But what if you need them?"

Hotch huffed and started jumping the steps, two at the time.

Garcia was breathless by the time she reached the parking lot, in time to see him trying to open his car.

"Sir, wait!"

"I can't hear you, Garcia," he said, trying to fit his key in the hole, unsuccessfully.

"But, sir-"

"No, I don't want to hear about condoms anymore."

"I know, but I have to-"

"Garcia," Hotch said, turning to face her. "For all I care, this conversation is over. Are we understood?"

"Yes, but-"

"No, no buts. I'm going to get in my car and drive away and have lasagna with Beth- Why won't this key work?!"

"Because it's your office key!"

Hotch quit trying to shove it in the door and looked at it. Yes. Garcia had a point.

Garcia knew there was a sex joke somewhere in her throat trying to get out, but upon seeing Hotch's head hit the top of the Lexus, she decided to keep it to herself.

"Here. You dropped them on the stairs."

He snatched them from her hand and grumbled a thank you.

"I know you don't want to hear anything more about it, so I'll just say this. I understand that this is a delicate situation and that maybe you don't want to rush into things with Beth."

"Good," he said, shortly, never looking at her. Maybe if he ignored her long enough, she'd vanish.

"But if it happens, if it really happens tonight, do you want to be the guy that let what might possibly be the right moment escape through your fingers because you went in unprepared? That's dumb. Sir."

Hotch rolled his eyes and got in his car, slamming the door behind him.

It didn't take him two entire seconds to roll the window down. "I hate you."

"Smart choice, Sir," Garcia smiled and opened her purse. "Don't worry, I won't tell."

"Just give me one and walk away."

"One? Oh, that is not very optimistic-"

"Garcia!"

"Fine, fine. Would you like strawberry?"

Oh, she had got to be kidding!!

"What?"

"Strawberry, orange, mint, leather-black, leopard print-"

"You carry options around?!"

"Yes. In alphabetic order."

"Why do you carry options around?"

"The same reason I always have an extra pair of shoes. You never know what the situation will call for. What will be?"

"I don't care!" he said, in a painful voice. "Just give me one and don't look me in the eye for the next two weeks."

"Okay, okay, uhn.... here. Take strawberry and mint. And a regular."

Hotch snatched them from her hand and looked around, hoping no one else was in the parking lot to witness that madness. And with a dead serious face, he said, "This never happened."

"Understood."

"No. I mean, this - never - happened."

"Oh. Understood, sir. All security footage of this night will be accidentally lost."

"It better be."

And he sped up off the lot and down the road, watching Garcia wave goodbye by the rearview mirror with too much enthusiasm.

Sherlock opened the red box and there was a collective gasp from the entire family.

Mother covered her mouth with her hands, horrified, and gave her husband a very furious look. How could he have been so careless?

Father, terrified at what had happened, tried very hard not to look at his wife. The sight of blood and violence was easier to stare at.

Mycroft was the first to rush to his little brother and rest a reassuring hand on his shoulder. "Sorry, Sherlock, it happens sometimes."

Sherlock sighs, "Wow."

"Yes," Father said, breathless. "Yes, an accident. Sorry, son."

"You had to put them in the same box, didn't you?" Mother tutted.

"You just said to poke holes in it," Father replied, a little upset at the remark and struggling to keep his voice low. "I didn't expect them to..."

"Anyway!" Mycroft interrupted, sensing the eminent fight. "I'm sure we can drop by the pet store tomorrow, maybe pick up new ones."

Sherlock looked back at his brother, "Pick new ones?"

"Yes."

"Why?"

Mycroft looked at his brother in confusion for a moment, "Well, little brother, these are... you see, they are... dead."

"I know!"

Well, that wasn't a shock, anyone could see the pets were dead - very dead indeed. One of them had lost a paw, and that was laying on the opposite side of the box, while the other one had blood coming out of his eyes. No need to be a genius kid to know there would be no playing with fluffy things that Christmas morning.

However, the expression of pure joy on Sherlock's face was a real shock, and a big one.

"They battled each other to death" Sherlock explained. "Look at the blood splatter pattern, is just like my books, oh, dad, thank you, thank you, it's the best Christmas present! Thank you so much! I cannot wait to figure out what happened!"

Father couldn't say anything for a moment. Had his eight year old son just told him his favorite Christmas present - ever! - had been a bloody box of dead pets? Last year Santa Claus had brought a bike, for crying out loud!

"You're... welcomed."

"And can I open them up later?"

"I... what?"

"Please, dad! I promise not to make a mess!" He turned to Mother. "Can I, Mommy, please?"

There was no answer from Mother as well because she was trying to understand just what was happening. And as with everything else that concerns their younger son, Father and Mother raised their equally dumb looks to Mycroft, expecting he'd provide a suitable answer.

Mycroft rolled his eyes and gave his brother the obvious permission, "Of course, Sherlock. But not with the kitchen knives. Why don't you go get your magnifying glass and a notebook and write everything you see down? Tomorrow, we can buy the... suitable tools for the autopsy."

"Thank you, Mycroft," he answered, with an even bigger smile. "And thank you, daddy and mommy, I loved it!"

And with that final statement, he rushed through the door and vanished up the stairs with very loud footsteps.

It wasn't until everything had quieted down and he had found the look of bewilderment on his wife' eyes that Father dared to brag, "See? I told you every boy likes hamsters."

New Beginnings

Prompts must, in some way, relate to a new beginning for the couple. It could be that they move from friends to lovers; it could be that they reunite after some years apart; it could be that they move into a new home; that one (or both of them) changes jobs, gets a new career, retires, starts their own company; maybe there's a new addition to the family, human or animal. As long as it is something new in some way for them, then anything goes.

DAY 11: Slash Pairing You Think Was Screwed Over by Canon

Without a Trace
Danny/Martin because of the introduction of Elena Delgado.

The one on the left. The woman on the right (Vivian, played by Marianne Jean-Baptiste) is there because she was ALSO screwed up by canon with the introduction of Elena Delgado (Rosalyn Sanchez), since she took over time that could have been used to explore Vivian's background and family life. Instead, we got Elena and Danny falling in love because, well, basically because they're both hot and latino and Danny had to get laid eventually. They not only got zero chemestry, the relationship turned Danny Taylor from a tough, street wise alcoholic into a love sick puppy.

The writing is only partly to blame, though - it did get lame from season four on (as Anthony LaPaglia, who played the main character, admited himsef) - but Sanchez was far from being a great actress, specially if you take in consideration MJB was nominated for an Oscar and LaPaglia had just won a Tony and a Golden Globe. The character itself was not really all that bad!

Yes, I'm still bitter on the issue, it was my favorite show and it hurt to see it destroyed by both bad writing and bad casting.

Also slightly screwed by canon, John Cooper/His Drug Dealer (Southland), but it was meant to get screwed from the get go. It never really got a follow up and now that John is clean I'd have liked to see him have awkward moments with Nameless Hot Dealer.

DAY 12: Slash Pairing You Have a Headcanon For

Every single one. I'm gonna come up with the Head Canon Meme one of these days.

The ones with the longest head canon are very likely... Milo/Rick (Alex Delaware Novels) and John/Cezar (Southland), because of the lacking source material.

DAY 13: Slash Pairing You Think Gets Too Little Attention

Because they are canon, and yet we spend no time AT ALL with them. Do I really have to read about Alex and Robin having sex five times a week in every book while Rick and Milo don't even kiss? C'mon...

DAY 09: Slash Pairing You Used To Love But Now Hate

I was never really head over heels for them - though they are hillarious! The thing is, Cameron is a big shiny star trying to get used to being a househusband, Mitchell is a repressed, serious guy still struggling with bits of his sexuality. And whenever Cameron tries to be himself, Mitch gets defensive and cuts him down.

Doesn't mean they're not GREAT characters when they're on their own. Here's Cameron, with bits of Mitchel:

I couldn't find a Mitchel one, sorry. Jesse Tyler Ferguson is at his best as Mitchel, though, and you should totally check it out.
