Product description
Why Chefs And Home Cooks Trust Good For Wood
Not all cutting board oils are the same. Most mineral oils sit on the surface. Ours is ultra-refined to absorb deep into wood fibers — protecting your butcher block countertop, chopping board, and acacia wood cutting board from the inside out.
Odorless. Tasteless. 100% food safe. No additives, no chemicals, no rancid smell like tung oil or linseed oil. Just pure food grade mineral oil that meets FDA standards for direct food contact.
Certified Kosher & Halal. Made in an allergen-free facility — no nuts, soy, wheat, or gluten.
One Bottle. Every Wood Surface In Your Kitchen.
You don't need five different products. Good For Wood works on cutting boards, butcher blocks, wooden spoons, salad bowls, rolling pins, knife handles, and countertops. Use it as a bamboo cutting board oil, a mineral oil for knives, or a butcher block sealer — it does it all.
16 fl oz goes a long way. A single bottle lasts months of regular use. Apply a thin coat, let it soak in for 20 minutes, wipe off the excess. That's it.
Safe for your family. Safe for your food.

Some things are worth...
... Taking care of.
The cutting board that's been in your kitchen for years. The wooden spoon your grandmother used. The knife handle worn smooth by a thousand meals. Good for Wood exists for the cooks who notice these things - who find something deeply satisfying in maintaining what they own. Pure food-grade mineral oil. Nothing added. A two-minute ritual that keeps your wood alive for years.
-
Why do we love what we do?
In a world where AI generates everything, there's something rebellious about oiling your board by hand.
Two minutes. Wood comes back to life. No app needed.
What problem are we solving?
Most oil bottles get hidden away. Good for Wood doesn't — leave it on your counter, it belongs there.
Precision tip, no spills. Foil seal, no leaks.
A bottle that works as good as it looks.

Great absorption and a durable finished surface.
Reviewed in the United States on July 16, 2026Absorbs well into dense wood cutting boards and wood handles on knives and barbecue utensils. Easy application too to control the flow of oil to prevent waste. Once absorbed into the wood, if you buff it with a soft cloth or paper towel you will have a dry, non slippery surface.

Blends Well and Seems to Moisturize Nicely
Reviewed in the United States on April 28, 2026Vine Customer Review of Free ProductI used this for the first time yesterday. I washed my acacia cutting board and a bamboo cutting board and then once they had dried applied a generous amount of this oil to them. They were both in desperate need of being oiled so they soaked it up quickly. I let it sit on them for several hours and when I came back, there really wasn't much excess to wipe off. I've used both cutting boards since then and didn't get any oil residue or taste so this seemed to do it's job! I'm very pleased with it. It was easy to use, it wasn't too thick, the quality seems good, and the price is decent. I anticipate this bottle lasting me quite a while.

Great!
Reviewed in the United States on June 10, 2026This is the only thing going on my cutting boards
As someone who’s pretty particular about what touches my food prep surfaces — this checks every box. Food-safe mineral oil, no sketchy additives, absorbs fast and actually conditions the wood instead of just sitting on top. My boards look better than they have in years.
If you care about your kitchen tools, take care of them. This is how

Brought My Olive Wood Back to Life—Simple and Effective.
Reviewed in the United States on March 25, 2026Vine Customer Review of Free ProductThis is excellent quality food-grade mineral oil in an easy-to-use bottle. If, like me, you've switched to wooden cutting boards and tools to get away from plastic overload and everything that comes with it, then this product is for you. Most of my boards and tools are relatively new, so conditioning them didn't show any marked change in their appearance—which is exactly what you want. Well-conditioned boards look new. I did have a couple of older olive wood spoons, however, and those were in desperate need of conditioning. I think the results speak for themselves: the grain is now much more visible again, and the natural design of the wood has regained its beauty and contrast.
What's really great about this oil—and the thoughtfulness of the packaging—is two-fold. First, it arrives in a sealed plastic bag “just in case,” and the neck of the bottle also has a foil seal, so you can feel confident it will reach you intact and ready to use. Second, the small pointed tip opening allows for much better control when dispensing the oil.
The manufacturer instructs you to pour the oil directly onto the board, but I went another way. Since I've worked with mineral oil before and my boards aren't very old, they didn’t need heavy conditioning. If you pour too much on, you can always wipe it off—but why waste it? When I conditioned the wooden spoons pictured, I used a small piece of paper towel folded into a rectangle, poured the oil onto that, and then rubbed it onto the spoons. This gave me good control, reduced waste (you’ll still have some, of course), and made it easier to distribute the oil—especially down the stems.
I gave each spoon a starter coat of oil, which absorbed within about 2 minutes. I then applied a second coat, which took about 5 minutes to absorb. At that point, I was satisfied they were well conditioned and left them out on the counter for about 30 minutes before putting them away. If you haven’t been conditioning your boards regularly—or if they’re older and have never been conditioned—this may be more of a multi-step process, but the end result is definitely worth it.
There’s a lot of online misinformation about whether mineral oil should be used for this purpose, so let’s clear the air. Mineral oil is made from petroleum, but it will not go rancid—there are no fatty acids in mineral oil to support that process (rancidity is the oxidation of fats, and mineral oil is not a fat). For this same reason, it also won’t spoil or develop an off smell. Food-grade mineral oil (like this product) is widely used in medications, cosmetics, and food-related applications and is considered safe for conditioning cutting boards and wooden kitchen tools.
Another important point: mineral oil washes out over time—that’s a feature, not a bug—because it doesn’t form a permanent film that can crack or trap moisture. This is why it needs to be reapplied every few months to keep boards well conditioned. Some manufacturers recommend re-oiling weekly or even after every use, but that’s likely overkill for most households. Once a month or every other month is usually sufficient. If you want longer intervals between applications, a combination of beeswax and mineral oil is a good option.
Whichever route you choose, the one thing you don’t need to worry about is mineral oil being “dangerous” for this purpose—it’s not. If you prefer plant-based oils for personal reasons, that’s a separate choice, but from a functional standpoint, food-grade mineral oil remains one of the most stable and widely used options for cutting boards.
This is a high-quality, food-grade oil that works exactly as intended. It’s well priced compared to competitors and contains nothing but pure mineral oil.

This will help to give my cutting boards longevity
Reviewed in the United States on July 15, 2026Vine Customer Review of Free ProductWhen we transitioned from plastic to bamboo cutting boards about 8 years ago, I researched that wooden boards should be oiled to help prevent the boards from drying out & cracking. Well, 8 years later, I finally have a bottle of food grade mineral oil specifically to protect my boards. Better late than never, I guess! Although the bottle arrived with a damaged cap/dispenser, I was able to oil all of my boards pretty easily. The oil is not as thick as cooking oil & is thinner like baby oil, so a little bit goes a long way. After pouring a little onto the board, I was able to easily rub it around all sides & then let it sit. (You can see the difference between a board that was not oiled vs. a freshly oiled board in my picture). After sitting for about 30 min, I washed the boards. I've used my boards many times since then & have not noticed any greasiness, odor, or flavor difference. I will be using this on a regular basis now to add many more years to our boards!
