Fandom: V6
Pairing: None, unless you count Papa!Sakamoto and Mama!Nagano as one.
Rating: G
Notes: First names are used (so "Masayuki" and "Yoshihiko" etc), because I can't exactly use "Nagano" or "Okada" to fit a family context, so if that seems uncomfortable to read then now you understand why I did that.
Summary: Just an insight into a typical morning at the Sakamoto household.
Disclaimer: The idea of V6 as a family isn't mine, they own that. ( ;__;)
A fic I wrote for bunny_d_kate, whose birthday is today! Happy birthday! I hope you like it. :DD

The Sakamoto household is an interesting one.
Each morning is like being in the middle of a battlefield; people running around everywhere and the sound of people screaming is nothing out of the ordinary. It starts off at 7 in the morning, where Masayuki, “Papa,” will tell his sons to “get the hell down here” from the kitchen downstairs, while “Mama” Hiroshi prepares breakfast for everyone. It’s the usual menu this time around, fried eggs sunny-side up and sausages, as well as a glass of milk on the side.
“Do you have work today?” Hiroshi asks as he finishes cooking the last of the eggs. Masayuki, focused on the newspaper in front of him, replies with a simple “nah” as he reads about the latest Baseball game. It’s quiet, he thinks to himself, but this is merely the calm before the storm.
“How long do you think it’ll take this time?” he asks from behind the newspaper as Hiroshi places the last plate onto the dining table.
“Who knows.”
Masayuki laughs, folding the newspaper before placing it next to him, “You always say that everytime I ask you.”
“You always seem to have little faith in our boys.”
“I speak from experience.”
The eldest son, Yoshihiko, is the first to come down, slowly sliding his feet towards the dining table. His hair is a disheveled mess and his gakuran is barely buttoned up, but being half awake means it doesn’t phase him in the slightest. It seemed like only yesterday that he entered his first year of high school, and yet he still acts like an elementary school kid. He’s either spending his time playing with his three younger brothers, or hanging out with his friends after school, usually with that kid Taichi from a few blocks away.
“Good morning, Yoshihiko,” Masayuki greets as he takes a sip from his coffee mug, Hiroshi playfully waving to their eldest son. Yoshihiko rubs his eyes as he tries to respond coherently, only to end up murmuring nonsense.
“Up playing games again?”
“Mmrmph… no… not this time…”
“Then what were you doing?” Sakamoto asks, “Talking to Asaka-chan?”
“N-no way!” Yoshihiko retorts as he suddenly wakes up from his trance, trying his best to hide his blushing face; there’s no way he will openly admit that he spends most of his nights talking to his girlfriend online, even when his younger brothers make fun of him for it. “I was just surfing the net and the time just zoomed by!”
“Okay okay,” Masayuki laughs, “Whatever you say. Do you know if your brothers are awake yet?”
“No idea,” Yoshihiko answers as he scoffs down his breakfast, “I think Jun-chan is still asleep, but no idea about Ken-chan and Go,” to which Masayuki groans slightly and Hiroshi sighs, looking up at the clock.
“It’s already been 10 minutes. Yoshi-chan, can you go up and tell Ken-chan and Go-kun to come down? Their breakfast is getting cold…”
“Aww, do I have to?”
“I thought you loved going up to see your brothers,” Masayuki replies.
“But I’m still tired!”
“You didn’t seem tired when I asked you about Asaka-chan.”
Yoshihiko blushes again and runs upstairs in a flash, before tumbling back down the stairs as the twins, Go and Ken, dash down the stairs. The eldest twin, Go, arrives at the table first, while Ken whines about just missing out on first place. Go’s gakuran is unbuttoned and his shirt is untucked, while Ken is the total opposite; apparently it makes him quite “attractive to the cute girls” at least according to all the boasts he enjoys making.
“Well, sucks to be you,” Go teases and steals a sausage from Ken’s plate.
“HEY! SCREW YOU!” Ken yells, his ear piercingly high pitch yell forcing Go to cover his ears. Masayuki raises his voice before the bickering becomes violent as usual; he doesn’t want to deal with this yet again. Hiroshi gently tells the boys to eat their breakfast and asks if they’ve done their homework. “I finished mine! I wanted to play video games but Go finally decided to start his work after dinner so I had to wait for him to finish… ended up not playing at the end, and it’s all Go’s fault!”
“You’re just a nerd, brat.”
“What did you say?!”
“Come on, you two,” Hiroshi butted in, “it’s almost time to leave.”
“By the way…” Masayuki chimes in, “Where’s Yoshihiko?”
“Last time I saw him,” Ken answers while munching on his fried eggs, “he was lying on the stairs.”
“There is always at least one casualty in this household isn’t there…” Masayuki groans, looking at Hiroshi for reassurance.
“You guys need to stop doing that to me…” Yoshihiko groans as he rubs the back of his head with one hand, while Junichi, the youngest son, is being cradled in his free arm, “luckily Jun-chan came down and asked if I was okay! No wonder you’re my favourite brother!” Yoshihiko exclaims as he snuggles his little brother, Junichi giggling in utter delight.
“Hmph!” Ken pouts as Yoshihiko continues to ogle over his little brother, trying to hide his jealousy but clearly failing as usual. Go begins to tease his brother by copying Yoshihiko’s actions before getting whacked on the head, Masayuki rubbing his temples in irritation.
“The three of you should go now,” he grumbles, “otherwise you’ll be late.”
“Fiiiine…” The three eldest sons moan, Yoshihiko handing Junichi to Masayuki, and shuffle towards the front door, Go and Ken once again arguing over something trivial. Hiroshi chuckles and starts putting away the empty plates while Masayuki playfully hands Junichi his breakfast. Even though he’s only 5 years old, Junichi manages to eat everything without much struggle and with minimal mess, though it’s sort of expected coming from their shy and quietest son.
“Papa!” Junichi exclaims as he points a spoon full of food at Masayuki and claps happily as he leans in for a bite.
“Mm~! It’s yummy!”
“Of course it is,” Hiroshi chimes in from the kitchen sink, “Mama made it and Papa always likes Mama’s cooking, right~?”
“That’s so true,” Masayuki chuckles as he wipes food off Junichi’s face, the child waving his arms in the air, calling out for his papa’s attention.
He craddles Junichi while humming softly into his ear, remembering that at around this time of the day, it’s as if he’s in a totally different house compared to a few minutes ago. There’s no arguing, no boisterious cheering; there’s nothing but the sound of Hiroshi washing the dishes and Junichi’s cheeky little laugh as he starts playing with his face.
“I loooooove you, Papa~!”
“Hehe,” Masayuki replies. He kisses the child’s forehead, slightly more protruded than most people’s foreheads, and smiles as Junichi starts giggling again.
“Well, Papa loooooves Junichi too~!”
