Welcome to the Generic Universal RolePlaying System!

With GURPS, you can be anyone you want – an elf hero fighting for the forces of good, a shadowy femme fatale on a deep-cover mission, a futuristic swashbuckler carving up foes with a force sword in his hand and a beautiful woman by his side . . . or literally anything else! Thanks to its flexibility, quality writing, and ease of use, GURPS has been the premiere universal roleplaying game for over three decades!

More than 1,500,000 copies are in print – not counting foreign editions. GURPS Lite, a 32-page distillation of the basic GURPS rules, is available for free download. We also have dozens of GURPS adventures and e-books available on Warehouse 23.

August 31, 2026: A Brief De-Lurking

GURPS Template Toolkit 5: Quick and Pointless

I'm technically on vacation as I write this, but as it's the last day of August, I want to round up what happened this month. So, here I am, doing exactly that. By the time this goes live, I will have vanished again . . .

Recent Releases

We published one new supplement since my last report:

GURPS Template Toolkit 5: Quick and Pointless (August 27, 2026; PDF)

While some GURPS players love the freedom of spending a character-point budget on a wide variety of options to get exactly the alter-ego they desire, others can't get past the accounting, or suffer from decision paralysis. Character templates offer one solution, but many gamers find them restrictive – and they're closer to math-light than math-free. Quick and Pointless describes an alternative approach: What amounts to a giant template that covers all the valid characters for a campaign, allowing great variety with just a few quick choices. It achieves this by offloading a lot of work onto the GM, but it shows the GM exactly what to do and provides many examples to help. As a bonus, it incorporates a "Destiny Points" mechanic that keeps the game moving as quickly in play as during character creation.

Upcoming Plans

Work on everything scheduled for the rest of 2026 and all of 2027 continues at a steady pace. We've had no bad surprises over the summer, so the items on the list below continue to look solid. Still, the usual disclaimers apply: We cannot provide precise release dates, or even release months in many cases, and surprises happen.

  • Through production and looking good for 2026 are my GURPS Dungeon Fantasy Monsters 6: Tiny Terrors for September and Nathan M.M. Meluvor's GURPS Martial Arts: The Bolognese School for November.
  • There's a good chance that Anders Starmark's GURPS Fantasy Folk: Fishfolk will also show up in 2026.
  • GURPS Ring of Fire continues to stay on course for April 2027.
  • The majority of 2027's offerings are in production. The year will include Alden Loveshade's GURPS Hot Spots: Victorian London, Thomas Pugh's GURPS Banestorm: Whispers of Tohrent, John Shimmin's GURPS Locations: Institute of Metaphysics Library, Paul Stefko's How to Be a GURPS GM: Handling Tech, Matt Wehmeier's GURPS Infinite Worlds: Psionics, and my own GURPS Template Toolkit 6: Styles. The exact order is to be determined.
  • David Pulver is still working on the final draft of GURPS Armor Design, which should join the 2027 lineup.
  • I recently submitted something for the GURPS Powers series, which will show up in 2027 as well.

There are currently 6 Sekrit Projekts that I feel it's best not to name just yet. For hints, leaks, and annoying teases about these and things I've revealed already, check out the GURPS thread in my DreamWidth, updated Fridays when I'm not on vacation.

It looks like 2027 is filling up fast, but gamblers might want to throw the dice on a query letter anyway. To maximize your odds, remember that we're seeking rules-light manuscripts that result in 12- or 21-page publications that reflect the Warehouse 23 Digital Wish List (updated August 4, 2026) and Warehouse 23 Wish List for GURPS (updated August 4, 2026). Exceptions are unlikely unless you're an established freelancer of long association. And no matter who you are, please read the Freelancer FAQ, Submission Guidelines, GURPS formatting guide, and GURPS WYSIWYG template, and make sure your proposal shows that you've done so. Thanks in advance!
