About This Quiz Event

The UK Quiz Circuit is a monthly event where you will earn UK Quiz Rankings Points – usually played on the first Saturday of the month. The individual quiz is a written paper with 240 questions split into six genres. Only your five highest-scoring genres will count towards your final score.

Can’t join us on the day? No problem! You can play along for fun (without the quiz rankings points) from the day after the event.

How Can I Take Part?

There are three ways to play in our circuit quizzes: at a live venue, in a Zoom room, or for fun as an unproctored player. And, you can always buy past question sets from our store whenever you like.

For quiz ranking points - at live venues

1. Create your free player account if you don’t have one

You can register for a free account here. It’s quick, easy, and free to do. Don’t forget to click ‘yes’ to sign up for our newsletters – we don’t spam anyone and we don’t pass on your details, we just keep you up-to-date with quiz goings-on.

2. Register for the event

Go to our schedule page here
Enter the event you want to play
Choose the venue where you participate
Sign in to your player account if you are logged out
Check the details (The times are displayed in your local time zone, and the venue addresses are listed.)
Confirm your registration
A pop-up confirms your registration and you can find your quiz entry here too.
That’s it. You’re all set!

3. On The Day

Grab a pen (even better, bring two or three!), and head to the venue.
You can either pay your host, or you can pay via PayPal – payments@quizzing.co.uk
Your host will read out the answers and you swap with another player to mark your papers.
We don’t take queries during the quiz to keep things running quickly, but you will find a challenges slip on the reverse of the front page. If you want to challenge any answers, you should write your challenge here and hand it to your host, who will raise it with the organisers.
Later in the day, you will be emailed a copy of the answers.
Upheld challenges are then sent out to all players, so you can then update your scores if you are owed any additional points.

4. Playing The Quiz

The quiz is a written paper that will be handed to it. It’s just you against the questions.
The rules are on the front page, along with a space to put your name and scores.
Each genre is on one double-sided page.
There are 30 questions each worth one point, and 10 questions each worth 0.1 points for each genre.
There are three picture questions in each genre that you will find on the back page, so you can remove it and have it on your table separately, so you don’t have to keep flipping back and forth.
If a question asks for a name, unless otherwise specified, the last name only is sufficient.
The quiz is NOT a test of your spelling, it’s a test of your knowledge. As long as your answer is phonetically correct, then you may have the point.

Check the details (The times are displayed in your local time zone, and the venue addresses are listed.)

3. On The Day

About an hour before the event, you will be sent a link to the Zoom room.
You will find instructions on setting up your camera here.
Grab a pen (even better, two or three!), and head to the Zoom room 15-30 minutes before the quiz is due to start.
Once everyone is in the Zoom room, your host will send you a link to the question paper in our store where you pay for and download the questions. No peeking just yet!
You can either print out the questions and write your answers on the paper, or you can have them on screen and write your answers on a plain piece of paper.
Your host has run many of these online quizzes, so don’t panic if you have any problems getting the questions, help is at hand if you just ask.
When your host tells you to start playing, you may begin, and you will be given a 5-minute warning before your time is up.
At the end of the quiz, you will be asked to hold your papers up to the screen so your host can record them. This gives us a record of what people wrote before the answers are given.
Your host will read out the answers and you mark your own paper.

Find the ‘Unproctored Quizzes’ you want to play
Choose the quiz you want to play
Sign in to your player account if you are logged out
Check the details (The times are displayed in your local time zone, and the venue addresses are listed.)
Confirm your registration
A pop-up confirms your registration and you can find your quiz entry here too.
That’s it. You’re all set!

3. On The Day

Navigate to ‘Unproctored Play’ in your player account via this link.
Select ‘Get Paper’ from the quiz you have signed up for. This takes you directly to the paper in our store, so you can pay for and download it.
Follow the instructions on the front page.
When you’ve finished, you add your score on the ‘Unproctored Play’ page, where you clicked ‘Get Paper’ earlier.

Who can play?

Anyone can! Our events are open events with no qualification process. Everyone is welcome!

I'm new to this, will I feel silly?

Not at all. Even the greatest names in quiz started somewhere. You’ll find the quiz community friendly and supportive. Generally, people are concerned only with their scores and those of their ‘deadliest rivals’😉. And, you don’t have to enter your score if you don’t want to.

Not Quite Ready To Play A Full Quiz?

No problem! We play a Lite version of this quiz on the day after the main quiz. The Lite version consists of 120 of the more accessible questions used in the main quiz. There’s a leader board, but no rankings points.
