Today in History – 24 September
1780 – Benedict Arnold flees to British Army lines when the arrest of British Major John André exposes Arnold’s plot to surrender West Point. Traitors don’t have to leave the country today. They find willing allies in the dimmocrat party.
1890 – The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints officially renounces polygamy. That’s okay. Wait until it comes back under sharia. We don’t say anything if Muslims do it but then the Mormons aren’t grooming suicide bombers.
1906 – U.S. President Theodore Roosevelt proclaims Devils Tower the nation’s first National Monument. He wasn’t qualified to be president, you know, having been selected for VP after less than two years as a state governor.
1929 – Lieutenant James H. “Jimmy” Doolittle guides a Consolidated N-Y-2 biplane over Mitchell Field in New York in the first all-instrument flight. If you’ve never done it, it’s quite an experience. Your body tells you things that just aren’t so. It takes training to get over that little fact, and to build an image of three-dimensional activity from the indications of your instruments.
1948 – The Honda Motor Company is founded, goes on to make those crummy Jap cars that nobody will ever buy. American car makers didn’t crap their collective pants, but they should have… Of course, Honda started out selling silly little motorcycles. American and British bike manufacturers laughed, too… Japan was beaten almost back to the Stone Age, yet came from the rubble and built a world-class economy. Detroit was part of a world-class economy and dimmocrat leadership has taken it to where it looks like Japan in 1945.
1960 – USS Enterprise, first nuclear power aircraft carrier, launches.
1972 – Japan Airlines Flight 472 lands at Juhu Aerodrome instead of Santacruz Airport in Bombay, India. The runway was too short, the aircraft was damaged to the point of total write-off. It happens. I never did it myself, but I was on final for the wrong airport on my first student cross-country flight before discovering the mistake.
1979 – CompuServe began operation as first computer information service. I had a CompuServe account in 1985. Anybody out there beat that? (they charged a premium rate if you logged on at 1200 baud)
1990 – East Germany leaves Warsaw Pact. After 45 years as a Soviet puppet…
2005 – Hurricane Rita makes landfall in the United States, devastating southeast Texas and southwestern Louisiana. The media is too focused on the perpetually peeved and professional beggar class in New Orleans to pay much attention to people who got up out of the wreckage and debris and went back to work.
2008 – Thabo Mbeki resigns as president of South Africa. Time for another group to ride the nation into the dirt.
2015 – At least 1,100 people are killed and another 934 wounded after a stampede during the Hajj in Saudi Arabia. When the fevered dreams of a 7th-century pedophile drive 21st-century populations.
Today in History – 23 September
38 AD– Drusilla, Caligula’s sister who died in June, with whom the emperor is said to have an incestuous relationship, is deified, much as Biden does with his dead son.
1529 – The Siege of Vienna begins as Muslim forces under Suleiman I begins the attack on the city. Folks, they’re back!
1779 – American Revolution: Squadron commanded by John Paul Jones in USS Bonhomme Richard wins the Battle of Flamborough Head, off the coast of England, against two British warships. “Bon Homme Richard” defeats HMS Serapis. “I have not yet begun to fight!” The obama administration would’ve let ’em be captured then shipped the Brits a couple of pallets of cash… Joe would’ve gone out for ice cream.
1889 – Nintendo Koppai (Later Nintendo Company, Limited) founded by Fusajiro Yamauchi to produce and market the playing card game Hanafuda. A century later, they’re responsible for immobilizing a sizable chunk of American youth.
1932 – The Kingdom of Hejaz and Nejd is renamed the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Needs to be called “That melted-over place where Mecca used to be.”
1941 – General Charles de Gaulle forms a French government in exile in London, tells Churchill “let’s you and them fight”… Life is oh, so much easier when you’ve got the British and Americans sheltering your pompous French butt from the German army sitting in your REAL capital.
1957 – Little Rock schools integration crisis: President Dwight D. Eisenhower sends the 101st Airborne Division to Little Rock, Arkansas, and federalizes the Arkansas National Guard, ordering both to support the integration of Little Rock Central High School.
1983 – Gulf Air Flight 771 is destroyed by a bomb, killing all 112 people on board. Wanna play “Guess the religion”?
1990 – Saddam Hussein says he will destroy Israel. Where’s Saddam today?
2002 – The first public version of the web browser Mozilla Firefox (Phoenix 0.1?) is released. Has it been THAT long? I’m running version 142.0.1 on this MacBook right now.

1776 – Nathan Hale is hanged for spying during American Revolution. This is where Obama would’ve shipped Britain a couple of billion bucks in apology.
1789 – Office of Postmaster General is created under the Treasury Department. If they’d had stamps back then, they’d want to raise the price on them.
1792 – Primidi Vendémiaire of Year 1 of the French Republican Calendar. In typical moonbat fashion, the French show the great ideals behind their Revolution by making cosmetic changes to the calendar, the better to coordinate the coming bloodbath. They might sound like over-educated fops, but they’re DEADLY over-educated fops, with the mob behind them.
1823 – Joseph Smith claims to have found the golden plates after being directed by God through the Angel Moroni to the place where they were buried. He got enough people to buy into this bullshit to establish a new religion, not a bad move for an old guy who just wanted an edge in boinking more women.
1862 – A preliminary version of the Emancipation Proclamation is released by Abraham Lincoln. Contrary to a rather tasteless joke, he did NOT wake up from a two-day alcohol-fueled bender and say “I freed WHO?!?”
1888 – The first issue of National Geographic Magazine is published. Pictures of topless native women soon make it very popular among adolescent males.
1896 – Queen Victoria surpasses her grandfather King George III as the longest reigning monarch in British history. Queen Elizabeth II passed Queen Victoria up.
1939 – World War II: Joint victory parade of Germany’s Wehrmacht and USSR’s Red Army in Brest-Litovsk at the end of the Invasion of Poland.
1944 – World War II: Red Army enters Tallinn. Estonia finds that ‘rescue’ by the USSR is no rescue at all…
1957 – In Haiti, François “Papa Doc” Duvalier is ‘elected’ president, stays in office until 1971 – the rest of his life, wearing Savile Row suits and living in a palace while his constituents live by subsistence farming and foraging for scraps in dumps, much like inner cities in the US benefit from the dimmocrats they elect.
1985 – France premier confesses to attack of Rainbow Warrior. With France’s recent military history, a stunning victory over a boatload of tree-hugging hippies is better than nothing.
1995 – An E-3B AWACS crashes outside Elmendorf Air Force Base, Alaska after multiple bird strikes to two of the four engines soon after takeoff; all 24 on board are killed. I was flying a Cessna 150 with my cousin once when we clipped a duck. It resulted in nothing more than severely tightened sphincters.
2013 – At least 75 people are killed in a suicide bombing at a Christian church in Peshawar, Pakistan. Just a little proselytizing by the Religion of Peace™

1776 – Part of New York City is burned shortly after being occupied by British forces.

1792 – First French Republic forms, celebrated widely by the beheadings of a few thousand random French. France is up to Republic #5. They switch on occasion of installing dictators, monarchs or getting invaded by Germany, or “hey!, it’s time to do something different.” The next time it won’t be a republic, it’ll be part of the Caliphate.

In Dunaivtsi, Ukraine, Nazis murder 2588 Jews. In those days, the term “Nazi” meant something quite different than “doesn’t subscribe to the dimmocrat party platform”.
1942 – The Boeing B-29 Superfortress makes its maiden flight. Two years later they were visiting Japan regularly.
1954 – First nuclear submarine, USS Nautilus, commissioned. Later becomes the first submarine to get to the North Pole and cross the Arctic Ocean submerged.
1955 – Last allied occupying troops leave Austria. War’s been over for ten years. They clearly needed an exit strategy.

1633 – Galileo Galilei is tried before the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith for teaching that the Earth orbits the Sun. You’d have thought he was subpoena’d to a congressional hearing for advocating Ivermectin.

1904 – Orville & Wilbur Wright fly a circle in their Flyer II. Baby steps. And the Wright machine was far from a stable platform…
1909 – The Parliament of the United Kingdom passes the South Africa Act 1909, creating the Union of South Africa from the British Colonies of the Cape of Good Hope, Natal, Orange River Colony, and the Transvaal Colony. It had a pretty good run, but reports today indicate that it is sliding downhill toward being another poorly governed African hell-hole.
1939 – A German Messerschmitt Bf 109 is shot down by Fairey Battle gunner Sgt. F. Letchard during a patrol near Aachen. This is the RAF’s first aerial victory of the Second World War. “Fairey Battle”? Transpose that to battle fairy and you get either particularly militant homosexual or a something from World of Warcraft. Or leave it like it is and you have a brawl in a gay bar. “Bitch stole my mascara!”
1945 – German rocket engineers begin work in US. Twenty-odd years later, there are American footprints on the moon.
1954 – First FORTRAN computer program run. Remember FORTRAN? Remember writing computer programs at all?

2001 – In an address to a joint session of Congress and the American people, U.S. President George W. Bush declares a “War on Terror“. Like the War on Poverty and the War on Drugs, this one gets a lot of money and a lot of government jobs for every little effect.
2007 – Between 15,000 and 20,000 protesters marched on Jena, Louisiana, in support of six black youths who had been convicted of assaulting a white classmate. Only six protesters had to miss work. For many of those people, protesting IS the job.
2008 – A dump truck full of explosives detonates in front of the Marriott hotel in Islamabad, Pakistan, killing 54 people and injuring 266 others. It was disguised as a clock.
2019 – Roughly four million people, mostly students, demonstrate across the world to address climate change. Sixteen-year-old Greta Thunberg from Sweden leads the demonstration in New York City. “If you sit in the dark and eat bugs and give the government more money, the weather will get better.”

85 AD – Nerva, suspected of complicity of the death of Domitian, is declared emperor by Senate. The Senate then annuls laws passed by Domitian and orders his statues to be destroyed. Does any of this sound the least bit familiar?

They didn’t want to rush right in, either. It gave time for the restaurateurs to print menus in German and for the brothels to hold language classes.
1928 – Mickey Mouse’s screen debut (Steamboat Willie at Colony Theater NYC). Bugs Bunny comes along later, kicks mousey ass!

1949 – Will Cuppy, American humorist died. (b. 1884) He was a favorite of my 11th grade English teacher, the sainted Mrs. Peggy Pugh, and I much enjoy his humor. He wrote of King George III:
The colonists, it seems, had to “pay taxes to which their consent had never been asked.” [Footnote: Today we pay taxes but our consent has been asked, and we have told the government to go ahead and tax us all they want to. We like it.]

1985 – Tipper Gore and other political wives form the Parents Music Resource Center as Frank Zappa and other musicians testify at U.S. Congressional hearings on obscenity in rock music. She had to do something to stave off boredom while husband Al was off inventing the Internet or getting his chakras aligned…

Food for Thought – 18 September 2026
Today in History – 17 September

Van Leeuwehoek is commonly regarded as the inventor of the microscope. At least he was when **I** was a kid. Today’s kids are probably taught that it was invented by Africans or Muslims.

Lee’s Confederate army in the single-day Battle of Antietam Sharpsburg, the bloodiest day in American history. The Union army outnumbers the South 2 to 1, suffers more casualties. “Quantity has a quality all its own.”

1939 – The Soviet Union joined Nazi Germany’s invasion of Poland during the Polish Defensive War of 1939. This move was carefully determined by secret treaty between the USSR and Nazi Germany beforehand. Yes, the same USSR that were our ‘allies’ when Hitler reneged on his agreement (before Stalin could renege on it from HIS side), demonstrating how diplomacy works with murderous dictators, a lesson that should be considered today every time the Left starts whining about negotiating a solution to every threat.
1976 – The first Space Shuttle, Enterprise, is unveiled by NASA. Then we have to beg rides from the Russians. Finally, the private sector steps up.
1978 – The Camp David Accords are signed by Israel and Egypt. After FOUR official ass-kickings, Egypt finally decides that peace might just be a useful option. Then we had Hillary ‘n’ Barack’s “Arab Spring”, and The Accords became just scribblings on paper by the failed regime. Then the adults took over again in Egypt, and The Accords are back in.
1980 – After weeks of strikes at the Lenin Shipyard in Gdansk, Poland, the nationwide independent trade union Solidarity is established. Their trade union was trying to get them out from under communism. Most of ours are promoting it.
1983 – Vanessa Williams becomes the first black Miss America. She resigns after a series of nude photos, including the famous “Duck call” shot that appeared in Hustler, surface. Today we’re lucky if the contestant was born female.
1993 – Last Russian troops leave Poland. See the “1939” entry above.
2001 – George W. Bush, president of the United States, delivers remarks at the Islamic Center of Washington praising Muslim Americans and condemning Islamophobia in the aftermath of the September 11 attacks. Pick quote “Islam is peace”. Got that one wrong, George. You should have read the book.
2006 – An audio tape of a private speech by Hungarian Prime Minister Ferenc Gyurcsány is leaked to the public, in which he confessed that his Hungarian Socialist Party had lied to win the 2006 election, sparking widespread protests across the country. Lying to win an election is the ONLY way the dimmocrats can succeed on a national scale.
2011 – Occupy Wall Street movement begins in Zuccotti Park, New York City. Now most of ’em are back to ‘occupying’ a sofa in Mom’s basement again, except for the few who wrangled jobs with dimmocrat party. Occasionally they show up as paid protesters around the country when the dimms need a ‘rent-a-mob’.
2013 – Grand Theft Auto V earns more than half a billion dollars on its first day of release.
2016 – Two bombs explode in Seaside Park, New Jersey, and Manhattan. Thirty-one people are injured in the Manhattan bombing. Its a group of radical presbyterians, right?!? No? Muslims? You’re kidding. They’re the Religion of Peace™ and we’re bringing thousands more into the country unvetted.
