KOREA APR 2015.
Sooooooooooooooooooo.....its been more than a month since I came back from Korea. I told myself that I have to document down my trip in the most detailed manner possible but I have been so busy with work and ..... I don't even remember what I was busy with anymore. Haha but anyway..I should really start documenting it down before my memory become vague.
DAY 1
Wanted to fly on a Saturday but tickets were sold out during then. Hence we flew on a Sunday, 12 Apr. Can't remember when was the last time I was on board a SQ plane. I have been travelling via budget airlines these years because I am very budget la. Haha..budget airline seats are kinda cramp but bearable.
So....I was really excited to be on board a SQ plane again! Hehe..suaku I know.
After nearly 7 hours of journey, we finally arrived at Incheon airport at about 3pm. The first thing to do was to rent a wifi device from the airport. Can't remeber how much it was but it is not cheap. We then proceeded to purchase tickets for our bus ride to Myeondong Ibis Hotel Bus Stop..ticket cost 10 000 won per pax.
The ride was a smooth one..along the way we spotted so many cherry blossom trees along their highway and random streets. It was really beautiful! :)
The bus journey was about an hour and more..the moment we alighted from the bus, we could feel the cold and it was super shiok!
I had 1 nasty pimple above my lip and one beside my eyebrow on the very first day. The pimple kinda ripe over the hours and I was VERY EMBARRASSED! The "whitehead" was already showing by the time we alighted from the bus and we still had to drag the luggage for a good 5 mins to the hotel. Passed by all the ANNEHASEIYO ladies and I felt so inferior. They must be thinking why I didnt conceal my nasty pimples. Booohooo..ok enough of my pimple story.
We stayed at Metro Hotel located at Myeongdong. We booked the hotel through expedia and paid $870 for 7 nights. I am not very pleased with the hotel because we found an empty bottle under the bed. This evidently show that they didnt vacuum the floor thoroughly or maybe they didnt even do so. Even after 7 nights, the bottle is still under the bed. -.- It may still be lying there now.
And they don't change the bedroom slippers! From my previous hotels stay experience, I always get new bedroom slippers leh? And one more bad thing is that the water comes on hot and cold...I was shampooing my hair and then the water suddenly became scalding hot. Ahhh..It could just be that we are unlucky and had a bad room.
After pointing out all negativity, we are staying there again for our Sept trip. Haha I don't want to but Ah Wee says that the walking distance of the hotel to the train station is still worth us going back for. So lets hope I don't see an empty bottle under my bed in Sept!
Moving on........
It was already evening by the time we settled down hence we only explore the Myeongdong area on the 1st day. We settled our at dinner at Yoogane..I refused to have it in Singapore since I know I will be in Korea for the authentic one.Hehe
I quite like it but it was too spicy! Thank god that they serve free ice water!
We also tried tornado potato from the street stall. VERY NICE! It can get quite messy cause of the twirling pattern but I would definitely eat it again in Sept!
DAY 2
The plan for day 2 was to visit Yeouido Park & Gyeongbokgung palace.
We purchased T-Money & took train from places to places. Ah Wee as usual was the walking directory. I can count on him to give me directions..hahaha I can't remember the directions to Yeouido Park now. I only remember we took the train, alighted at the wrong station and had a long walk before we finally reach the beautiful park.
I look very warmly dressed but I was still super cold! The wind was soooo strong and I was literally freezing. Brrrrrr....we intially considered this place to be one of the location for our outdoor shoot but decided not to cause there are too many people. It almost impossible to get a shot without getting photobomb.
We spent at least 2 hours there but never complete the park cause we snapped countless pictures! Had to leave otherwise we won't have enough time for Gyeongbokgung palace.
Passed by a hotel that I mistook for Fullerton Hotel. But it looks exactly like Fullerton!
Took a train to Gwanghwamun Station.
Hehe numerous attempts in trying to get a good picture with King Sejong. This is like the landmark and most people may recognise it as its like a meeting place for Korean variety shows.
Pretty flowers along the streets! ^^
Like many tourist, we decided to have lunch at the famous Tosokchon for Samgyetang (Ginseng Chicken Soup) thats nearby. It was about lunchtime when we arrived and there was already a queue forming. But we were seated in less than 10 minutes so yay to that!
15 000 won each
Since the weather was so cold, I really appreciate having piping hot soup for lunch!
I hope we still get to do this when we are old~
