New Main Library
The new Main Library will be a major destination in Uptown Charlotte; a free, open, and accessible information hub for Mecklenburg County long timers, newcomers, and those just stopping through. As Charlotte Mecklenburg Library’s flagship location, it will be an architecturally distinctive, state-of-the-art, technologically advanced knowledge center, where everyone in the community can access the resources of a 21st century library. All will be welcome.

Library Sunday Hours return September 13Sep 9, 2026Beginning September 13, Charlotte Mecklenburg Library regional branches and ImaginOn will be open on Sundays from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday hours will be in place until mid-May 2027.

Libby and Kanopy Moving to Pin AccessSep 8, 2026Starting September 30, Libby will require a PIN in addition to your library card number to access your account in the Libby app or Library OverDrive website.
