Steve Lacy: A Fan's Reflection on Oh Yeah? Tour

Steve Lacy, an alternative R&B and soul musician, made his debut in the music scene with the band The Internet. The band was already established in 2011; Lacy joined as a guitarist in 2013, eventually leading to him co-producing their famous album Ego Death, which earned the band a nomination for a Grammy in 2015. Lacy also pursued other endeavours alongside The Internet, producing multiple hit songs such as Kendrick Lamar's “Pride,” Mac Miller's “Jet Fuel,” and J.

Oh Yeah! Steve Lacy live in Laval

On Tuesday, October 6th, Steve Lacy performed live for a packed Place Bell, touring his newest album Oh Yeah (2026). The concert was divided into two parts: a full front-to-back of Oh Yeah followed by some crowd picks of songs he hadn’t ever performed (including “UUU”, “Cody Freestyle” and “That’s No Fun”, to name a few -- which he sometiems struggled to remember the lyrics to). He eventually returned to the programmed setlist that featured many fan favourites from across his discography and even added cover of “This Night Has Opened My Eyes” by The Smiths. He bookended the concert with his Oh Yeah hits, opening with “Oh Yeah” closing with “The Feeling.”

Anything But Tiny: TinyFest 2026

At 8:20 pm, I’m standing in a near-empty Sala Rossa as red and white disco-projected lights are spinning across the floor -- I think they’re making the room look smaller. They’re playing Feeble Little Horse’s Girl With Fish front-to-back; in my mind, it’s a projection of how the entire night will feel. Warm, fuzzy, and a little messy -- all of the charms that draw anyone to college radio. I am one of 6 awkward stand-arounders I’ve seen so far tonight, all CJLO DJ’s and frequent Sala patrons. It’s like the first time seeing your cousins after a year, with a weird awkward silence that’ll be quickly rectified by beer and wonderfully curated music.

Jacob Collier Played the Crowd at Beanfield Theatre… Quite Literally

On October 2nd, Montreal’s Beanfield Theatre welcomed the talented British singer-songwriter, composer, and educator, Jacob Collier. Most well-known for his theoretical approach to composing music, he brought this quality to the Montreal stage. That night, the “Mozart of Gen Z” put on a mind-bending show that left the audience speechless.

I found love at Hana Stretton and you could’ve too

When you are listening to a sound, as soon as it hits your ears, it's already gone. It totally resists a holding action, there is no way to pause and stare. However, Australian composer, singer and producer Hana Stretton seems to possess the ability to stretch and pull sound beyond these limitations. Based out of rural Australia, she favours creating in isolation. Surrounded by nature, animals and instruments, she draws inspiration from her landscape and a deep appreciation for the life around her. She creates a sort of auditory collage, combining elements of folk, ambient and dream pop over field recordings and layered vocals. The power of her music not only rests in the happening but within the absence as well.

You Just Got Weezered! Weezer Live in Laval

Weezer is an American rock band that rose to fame in the 90s and ealry 2000s. They are famous for songs such as, "Buddy Holly" and "Undone (the Sweater Song)." Known for their nerdy aesthetic, iconic 90s rock sound, and meme culture, Weezer is beloved by many, including myself.

On tour for their latest self-titled album, Weezer (2026), better known as the gold album, Weezer's The Gathering Tour took place on September 26th at Place Bell, where they performed new and old songs from their plentiful discography. They began their set with "Shine Again," and a special performance of "Across the Sea" and even played crowd pleaser, "Island in the Sun."

He Promised he Would be Back! Khalid’s intimate performance at L’Olympia

L’Olympia was the place to be on Thursday, September 24th, for a blast from the past with a decade of chart hitting pop bangers as musician, Khalid, graced the city of Montreal for the first time in over 7 years. The artist had originally been scheduled to perform earlier this past May at Place Bell in Laval, which was later cancelled due to low ticket sales. However, he promised he would not forget about our beautiful city, so he made Montreal the first stop of the It’s Always Summer Somewhere World Tour.

Crowd Surfing Jesters and Mystical Music Wizards: The Garden plays Club Soda

On Tuesday night, I was cured from my fourth year art school malaise by a pair of talented twins -- I got the chance to see Orange County California punk rock legends, the Garden, at Montreal's Club Soda.
