i think i should be updating more religiously, since some exciting things seem to be upcoming in my otherwise uneventful life. i have been contemplating getting a different blog for the whole France & Europe experience, actually, since i'm thinking that should be a little more public than this one. i plan on posting pictures and actually mentioning peoples' names. though honestly the only factor stopping me from making that new online journal is a decent-enough username.

if i come up with a decent username for that new blog, it will happen. otherwise, well, we'll see. there are other ways of documenting this whole thing.

i have two weeks and i am too lazy or perhaps too overwhelmed at everything i have to do, that i end up checking my SNS over and over again, downloading music, and whathaveyou instead of doing all those things i really have to do.

i have stuff to shop for, and they don't seem to be buying themselves. the pair of boots i reserved at Charles and Keith passed its deadline, and i'm just really crossing my fingers that nobody else has bought them prettiness. i'm heading there tomorrow probably, hopefully with mom, just so i can really get 'em and have something accomplished for the week. but then tomorrow I still have French class, lunch with D (i think), snacks with K, and then dinner ++ with the block, so i'm not too sure. the fact that it's a holiday on wednesday doesn't give me high hopes, since i'm afraid the malls will be filled with people pretending (or otherwise) to shop. though at least i hope mom will be on holiday too, and i hope she won't be too lazy to do whatever shopping so i can do some serious shopping.

i think i'm bleeding money. well okay -- my parents are bleeding money, and it makes me guilty as fuck. the dinner tomorrow's bound to require some 2k worth of money-down. then the boots - well they aren't cheap (but glad to say, they're not expensive as well!). i'm also paying for my Eurail passes this week, so there's another. aaaahhhh the thought is scary. we're hemorrhaging money right here.

but yes, two weeks. you might be really sick of all my countdown woes, but really now, the idea's been really making me scared and anxious. but safe to say, last week i was getting rather excited about leaving because i know France is going to be insanely beautiful. although the excitement didn't exactly last due to random events, i think this is already huge improvement.

i should probably get off the net now and get going with everything i need to fix before i leave.

it's been ages since i last did something like this.

i had a super fun afternoon with I incredibabe and N, because cliche as it may seem, we went on a girls' day at the mall. i was able to do some shopping, i.e. buy some stuff i actually need for France, as well as some window shopping, i.e. ogle at things i think i need but not really.

♥

this is us, after we've been given a quick make-up at Shu Uemura. HOT DAMN I WANT THE PAINTBUCKET EYELINER whathaveyou. i tried it in blue, and it did wonders to my eyes.

i never thought blue would actually look good on me -- i always thought there's some association of wild colored eyeliners to SM salesladies. but damn, Shu Uemura's the definitely way to go. their lash curler is amazing too, and i finally believe what people say about it. it's an absolute investment.

i finally tried them Mango boots worth 7K i checked out but not tried and looked for everywhere since last Friday. they're too expensive, and i think i'm getting the ones from Charles and Keith already. but whatever -- i love trying shoes! i even tried this pair of flats from Ferragamo, just because i was feeling like pretending i was extra rich. they're absolutely comfortable, but let's not even talk about how much it costs.

omgay luxury

well on the brighter side of the economic spectrum, i was able to buy a pair of shoes/sandals, except i'm reckoning they're not exactly a pair that would be any use to me in France.

anyway, it was great seeing and being with N again, after everything that's happened the past few weeks. i'm glad she's all good, and seeming like the usual fun and bubbly her :)

i have been canaled.

root canaled, that is.

i don't know why i'm making such a fuss out of this, but seriously -- i did not expect a root canal yesterday, i did not expect it for today, i do not expect it for tomorrow. but alas, here i am blogging about having been root canaled. i just think it's something everyone having it should be bracing for like weeeeeks before.

i went to french. then i had a lovely lunch. then we lingered a bit in McDonalds. went to the dentist. i was originally supposed to only have cleaning and incidental pastas on account of me flying in roughly 25 days. but i went out of the dentist with three root canal treatments. whot. i never thought you could do it all within an hour.

i haven't been to the dentist in over a year, and i guess my dentist just missed me so damn much, she decided to give me a root canal.

last night, I went to the wake of my good friend's lola. it would've just been another wake for a friend's relative -- we go there, say a few prayers, and chat and eat with our friend -- but it wasn't quite like that. as it appears, the lola of my friend happens to be Former President Corazon Aquino.

Expecting traffic to be heavy and parking to be scarce around the vicinity, we decided to park in Robinsons Galeria and just walk our way to LSGH. it wasn't that long a walk, and through it, we saw the extent of people who line up literally for HOURS to pay their respects and see the remains of the former president for less than five seconds. it's admirable how willing they are to do that.

we arrived at the gates when the mass was still on-going, so we had to wait a bit for my friend to be able to vouch us to get inside. we got in after around an hour or so, and the first thing i thought was "wow, this place looks so much bigger on tv". but random quips aside, the auditorium was literally streaming with personalities. politicians, celebrities, dignitaries. the celebrities were actually enough to make me feel unimportant and unattractive, with their smooth skin and perfectly made up faces. i would have tried to count how many important people there were, but that would've been futile. they were literally EVERYWHERE.

that was enough to make me realize how she has made a big difference to this nation. the mere number of people lining up outside waiting for at least two hours already serves as a testament to the noble things Pres. Aquino's done. i would have mentioned some of them right here, but unfortunately i know so little about what she has done. all i know is that she's influenced the transition towards this democracy i'm taking so much delight in right now. it's unbelievable, it's admirable. she really is the mother of democracy for the Philippine Nation.

CORAZON AQUINO, 1933 - 2009

I must say, I would not really go to the wake had I not been friends with one of her granddaughters. But I must say, I feel rather lucky being able to get to LSGH last night, and pay my respects to one of the best icons in Philippine History. I may not have been alive or aware yet of everything she has done, but judging from what I’m seeing on television now as her remains are transferred to Manila Cathedral, she meant a lot to all Filipinos - rich or poor, old or young, popular or commoner. The images on television seem to resemble People Power, and I am amazed at how such a woman can bring throngs of people to the street and make them willing to wait and sweat, and still remain a simple woman who loved her kids and grandkids.

We’ve truly lost an icon.

~From my tumblr
wow, i haven't done an entry like this in weeks. but i feel Pres. Aquino really deserves this. she's the one person who can unite the Filipino people. seeing these images on tv gives me the creeps -- but not in a bad way -- and it's almost like how described People Power before.

Salamat, President Cory.

the fact that it's August and i have thirty days left before i leave for France is really giving me anxiety.

i guess this is normal. after all, it's going to be four months away from the country i've known and the people i've been together with since forever. four months living a life i'm not used to yet. it seems scary, and the uncertainty is killing me, but i'm pretty sure i would not rather have it any other way. chances are, these four months will be one of the best i'll ever have, getting exposed to a whole different world of living. the place i'm going to live in will be stunning, and at the end of my four months there, i'm pretty sure i'd be wishing i had more than four months.

i say it's part of the process, though i'm not really sure if other people feel the same way i do.

strongface will be 3 in a few days. yessss, this is a feat -- me finally keeping the same username for more than two years.

more decent update next time. or whatever. i'm having too much fun with my life now i don't need to reaffirm it by making blog entries. HAHA
