Midweek check in from My Sewing Room

Every day I see a little more progress on this UFO.

So far this week I've gotten the last of the snowman noses ironed on and stitched down. And now I'm working on the snowflakes. There are 8 of them around the outside, and 12 more will go into the center area of the circle. Then I'll have the 8 smiles to add to the snowmen.

The last of the 30 Happy Blocks have been sewn, and they are also sewn into 6 rows of 5 blocks. The colors are alternated like this. I'm confident the ...

Time to make some plans from Just Sew Sue

It is fair to say that the time to plan the size of blocks needed for my ladder quilt would have been before requesting the blocks. I now realise I can only fit a few 12" blocks into the ladder quilt.

I now have a plan and have made two 6" woven stars to add to the blocks sewn by friends, and I need to make four 9" star blocks to complete the project. My plan is to make two Ohio stars and two other stars.

Half way point................ from Exuberant Color

The top 6 rows (of 12) are ready to sew now. Then I can move the blocks up and design the bottom half.

I cut two more Bear Paw blocks and sewed one of them. This one has the least contrast between the 2 fabrics in it. After I sew the other one I can take the pink thread off the machine and change back to brown.

Marcia Derse has flannel fabric now and the prints are from a couple of her previous lines. I didn't buy all of them, but just my favorites. I'll mix these in ...

Another Diversion from Quarter-Inch Capers

I’m trying to get some things cleaned out around here and either donated or thrown away. Trust me, it won’t last long! I don’t have the attention span for it. Sew Wot Tuesday from Romany Quilting

Heather was the hostess this time, with just five of us in attendance. It was a chilly, showery Spring morning, our Spring weather is always rather temperamental. Two birthdays were celebrated, there was a belated gift for Heather, and a couple of gifts for Jude, the next birthday girl. We all enjoy watching the gifts being opened, and I spotted some pretty soap, hand cream, hand towel and a crochet flannel. How NOT To Do Easy Flying Geese from Quilting My Way

This morning, we started out early because the nurse came at 8 am.

I played games for a bit. I cut a backing and batting for another top. Then I got a couple loads of laundry done and headed downstairs.

For those of you who haven't followed me from the beginning - This IS common for me to do!

I started with cutting 11" and 8" squares. (It was supposed to be 11" and 9 1/2" squares - just so you know)

Boston Meetup from The Knitting Quilter

We drove into Boston Saturday morning and met my friend, Sarah, and her husband Simon. Their cruise ship docked near the Seaport area so we stayed in that area for the day. We went out for coffee and lunch. We went into stores and small pop-up retail areas. It wasn't as warm as summer but it wasn't too chilly. It was perfect walking weather. That's the Boston Tea Party area behind us. People were throwing off tethered boxes from the boat to re-enact it.

Good morning, my friends. Since we took advantage of yesterday's nice weather for our hike on the Cape Flattery Trail, we had nothing on the day's agenda. That meant a day of relaxation.
