sharifah, ila, ain & i were supposed to meet up yesterday morning at 10 for breakfast... but look what happened alas when they surprised me with a belated birthday celebration! :)
Friday, May 22, 2009

on the 17th, restria, nisa and feezah organized a pre-birthday celebration for me... and as always, twas' full of laughter and happy pils... the reason why i love them so (:

i avoid speaking your name in conversation,
throwing it to the air as if it were nothing more
than an assumption of you; it is my last mode of defence.
the last item of clothing to discard before i realize i'm naked in public.
because they can hear it in my voice. i know.
even in that one short syllable that means everything and nothing,
your name is as common as you are rare.
as easy as you are not.
as simple as love should be, but never is.
but when i'm alone, i tie my tongue softly
round the familiar sound, as if pronouncing
with conviction the phonetics of desire will cause time
to pause just long enough,
for the earth to hear me naming my loss.

another of mum's classic; yummo.

it might not be the prettiest one there is, but i think it's safe to say that my first bread pudding was a success (:

It isn’t good to hold on too hard to the past. You can’t spend your whole life looking back.
Not even when you can’t see what lies ahead. All you can do is keep on keeping on,
and try to believe that tomorrow will be what it should be- even if it isn’t what you expected.

life is never a bed of roses, but i'm eternally thankful that everything is smooth-sailing; beyond my wildest expectations, even. there'll always be those who're waiting for you to stumble and crumble, but all you need is a little faith, just a little (:

in love with my new babies(:
Wednesday, April 8, 2009
my mum makes the best fried pasta i know, and my sister Sasha and i are already experts at it. but thanks to my little sister Nana's amazing idea, we'd now top the macaroni with melted cheddar cheese because it was more yummo like that. so last night Sasha was up sizzling the kitchen and when twas' done i went to the kitchen to scoop a share; sprinkled the cheese on top and into the microwave it went, as always. it was for the first time yesterday that i realized that instead of pressing 1:60 like i've done all along, i could've just pressed 2:00 and it would've worked the same way.

where were you during Earth hour?
Thursday, March 19, 2009

it is during times like this that i wished i...
1) were American and lived in Arkansas
2) had a phoneline established in the states so i could vote
3) were his wife

suddenly there seems to be so many things on my to-do list that are still unchecked, with the first day of work beckoning me in one and a half weeks; all of a sudden i feel suffocated with little time being the irony of it all. there's the huge wardrobe to sort out and raid; the last thing i'd need would be to have my pupils gossiping that i keep wearing the same outfits over and over again- a major disaster even bigger than the fundamentals of teaching itself. a whole new term, an entirely new school with a different batch of pupils from another cluster- saying i'm nervous and worried has got to be the understatement of the century. meeting the P and VP next monday- please let them be as nice as they sound.

another fabulous se7en meet-up in celebration of Zila's 21st(:
Tuesday, March 3, 2009

two straight days with my NIE girls(:
Saturday, February 28, 2009
last monday, (yes, we're queer and cool like that) we had a small but terrifically slinkster-cool birthday party ala barbecue at my place for Res' twenty-first birthday(: i think an appropriate word for the event is simply, blast.
Wednesday, February 25, 2009
i honestly hope that one day that little heart of yours wouldn't be so full of angst, revenge and deceit... and until that day comes, i'll pray for you.

my dear, if your heart's a volcano, how will flowers ever bloom?
Monday, February 16, 2009
ask me a question why, and i'll tell you that it has been a long time coming (: for so many months now i have pondered its importance, necessity and consequences... though up till now i cannot find a single negativity. after the loss of my grandfather last year and the passing of my very good friend just two weeks ago, i have consistently questioned myself and my level of preparedness had it been God's choice to take my life away instead. the answer is simple but true- i'm not and have not prepared myself. seeing two of the people i love pass away when their age gap is so far apart shows that it is not only those who're ageing or sickly that will be the ones who will pass on first, but just about anyone at any time. for so many years i have lived my life running after worldly posessions and achievements that i have little prepared myself for life after death. thankful that i have the tremendous support from my family, my primary and secondary school cliques and even more so from my newest set of girlfriends who'll be with me in our quest for a teaching degree from NIE- girls whom i've just met two months ago but feels like we've known another for a whole lifetime; girls who've decided to take on this new change together (: this decision, i have carved it only for myself and noone else- god willing i hope you'll embrace this change together with me.

You could be my unintended
Choice to live my life extended
You could be the one I'll always love
You could be the one who listens to my deepest inquisitions
You could be the one I'll always love
I'll be there as soon as I can
But I'm busy mending broken pieces of the life I had before
First there was the one who challenged
All my dreams and all my balance
She could never be as good as you
You could be my unintended
Choice to live my life extended
You should be the one I'll always love
I'll be there as soon as I can
But I'm busy mending broken pieces of the life I had before
I'll be there as soon as I can
But I'm busy mending broken pieces of the life I had before
Before you

i once said that while life can be deemed as like a box of chocolates with pleasant surprises awaiting you, sometimes it is never sweet. with Yash's sudden passing three days ago, i found myself unable to accept that someone so young and lovable could pass on at such a tender age, when there's so much more to life that's awaiting her- her graduation that she's been working so hard for, as well as her 20th birthday that was always eight days away from mine. bitterness still looms in my heart, and i'm somehow uncertain when it'll ever erase off. at her wake, when i looked at her for the very last time enveloped so serenely with that white cloth, i hope she'll be happy to know that she was loved by so many people- family, relatives and friends who came in hoardes. i will always remember her.

the airport was surprisingly not so empty at midnight on saturday morning, mhmm.
Saturday, February 7, 2009
this was the last time we met, and who would've thought that twas' the last time that i'd see you, hug you and laugh together with you. you have been the best friend i've ever had during our starbucks days, and i will always love and remember you, and the good times we had (: i'm glad we had that girly talk last tuesday, of making plans that would never happen now... i'll miss you, Yashmeen. May you be placed among those who're beriman, Amin. Al-Fatihah.

♥ you muchos, bff.

focus on the donut, and not the hole.
today has been such an awe-inspiring and slinkster-cool day (: i think have the most awesome clique of girls that will be my running mates in our quest to be the best teachers in this land! HAHAHA it's amazing how we've such common interests, principles and goals- the next set of four years in NIE will be fantabulous, we presume. sure do hope, though!
addie johnson has inspired me in more ways than one; her book on encouraging readers to look on the bright side and helping us find contentment that might just have been in front of us all along; is probably the best read i've had thus far this year (: on the way back home in the bus i sat in front of two women- a Japanese and a Korean- who coincidentally sat together in the bus and started chatting away like old friends, truth be told i figure they were surprised themselves that they had so much in common and that's when i realize that happiness is everywhere. it's true they say that we can achieve happiness not by doing great things, but by doing small things with great love.
'd' with the best friend tomorrow! (:

Dr. Wyatt: If he's with Rose that means he's not with you. And do you know why he's not with you? You're scared.
Meredith: Are you calling me a coward?
Dr. Wyatt: I think you are very frightened Dr. Grey.
Meredith: Are you calling me a coward?
Dr. Wyatt: What do you think?
Dr. Wyatt: He's with Rose.
Meredith: You know what, I'm not going to do this.
Dr. Wyatt: He's with Rose.
Meredith: WHY DO YOU KEEP SAYING THAT?!?
Dr. Wyatt: Because if you can't see what is wrong with that sentence, He's with Rose, we're never going to get anywhere, He's with Rose.
Meredith: OKAY! So he's with Rose. SO WHAT?!
Dr. Wyatt: Look, let me draw the parallels for you. The tragic patient dies alone while the love of his life is literally in the next room. That's you.
Meredith: What are you talking about? I'm not dying alone.
Dr. Wyatt: Oh. But I think you are, and you're telling yourself you're a hero, when in reality all you are is alone.
Meredith: THAT is a load of crap!
*****
what you're going through, Meredith, is only a made up from a very well-written fictional script. but as a fellow human being, i feel you- i really do.

as we enter our eighth year of friendship, i can't be more thankful :)
thank you girls for all the laughters, cries, sadness, joy and never to forget the constant bullying which would send us cackling like mad hyenas,
to only know better than to take things to heart- for staying the same despite having change as life's only constant...
happy 20th birthday feezah and nisa :)
i'd wish you nothing but eternal happiness with all the ones you love, all the very best in your future endeavours and may we grow old together.
Wednesday, December 24, 2008
spent the entire day (from breakfast at mcdonald's all the way to dinner lol) with these three crazy girls with the agenda to compile a collage for amirah's 20th birthday! :) delivered straight to the birthday girl's house to surprise her when she gets home from work. really hope you like it, girl! :) we had so much fun laughing at each other's antics and dancing to wonder girls' nobody lol. love you three muchos; see you friday! :)
sometimes life leaves us with choices to make, at times these choices are entirely minimal, while most of the time we don't even have a choice to begin with. but i urge you, to take on this opportunity, even with a pinch of salt, because i have faith in you- that you can and will make the most out of this. it might not be the choice... your choice, even, but please do know that things happen for a reason and for whatever that it's worth, i'll always be there to support you. always, my love.
Tuesday, December 23, 2008
such a fantastic day! res and i had sooooo much fun at mus/tafa centre getting anything and everything necessary for friday's party! lol twas' great. then we purchased matching calculator watches which was darn cheap(o) hahaha- definitely handy on shopping trips to calculate sale prices! :) copycats are most welcome to follow this trend :P they now come in coloured ones too and i'm getting the pink one on thursday! lol roll your eyes, will you.

Life is full of people who will make you laugh, cry, smile until your face hurts, and so happy that you think you'll burst.
But the ones who leave their footprints on your soul are the ones who accept, trust and never misjudge- friends who keep your life going.
a good monday to start a hectic week; i love you three forevermore :)

wild child's sucha grrrrreaaaat movie- already my second time catching it and i'm seriously hooked, lol. it has sucha well-written storyline; hilariously witty! :) four out of five popcorns!
Friday, December 19, 2008

and so i'm happy to be back- just some of the pictures uploaded because i'm lazy like that, heh. anyway the trip was cut short due to unseen circumstances so we didn't go to malacca in the end; i was kinda bummed initially because i was really looking forward to visit the museums there, but i received awesomeeee news (which i'll share with you once it's totally confirmed) thus the need to get back to singapore asap, lol. i think i'm slowly getting sick of the 'typical' malaysian holiday- scouring one shopping mall after another and spending money unnecessarily when most things over there are getting more and more expensive but which we'd buy anyway because we just had to, or we wouldn't be on holiday :S i'd like to venture into a non-shopping malaysian holiday next, hahaha as if i'd survive! but with the crazy recession due, i think it'd be only wise to spend our money (and what's left of it after the bonussss lol) in singapore. there's actually so much to talk about, but i'll save them for my meet-ups with the girls :P
