For the Women-kind

Where do you go? Where do you go? Little red ridin' where do you go? The wolves are out don't you know Night or mornin' where do u go? Your voice too loud Your dress too tight Your head too high Your future too bright Don't you know oh dont you know It's all your fault where do you go?   You are too young You are too old School or boardroom You will be told You sat at home behind the door You screamed for help they were four So where to go? where to go? Little red ridin' despair no more The worst has come and has gone It may return don't you run Use your voice stand up tall Kill your demons kill 'em all Go where you want do what you feel Don't lose yourself  in the world unreal Don't you stop don't give up hope The wolves will fade their voices will go Spread your wings Growl and Roar Go coast to coast or just down the road  Keep going on Keep going on Little red ridin' Don...

Alice in Biryaniland!

My first job..a new city..a new house.. a new language..and a whole new culture. Parson ich aaye miyan (literally meaning “day before oni”, but implying à in the recent past) As I said..a whole new culture! To be honest the first time I was in Hyderabad; and that was for a conference three years ago; I was pleasantly surprised by the lavishness of it all. Hum Dilli and Bangalore walon ko aur kuch posh lagta hi nai ;) But really, Hyd was glorious with its small cute home bakeries on a beautiful small lane that led to a grand road with a grand mall. There was a “crowd”, there were “hangouts”, and there was a sense of youthfulness. Three years later I’m 5 kms away from the famous Chaarminar (haven’t managed a trip yet) and I’m looking for a café that serves more than “hot coffee” or “cold coffee”. On some days I’m lucky enough to see a board that says “capuchino”. And before I start sounding like one of those “dilli ki ladki” (which I’m not! I’m not..I’m not..more on ...

A million little pieces...

A million little pieces of me Like me.. Just like me A million little pieces of me Shattered shiny broken blunt A million little pieces of me To put together A million little pieces of me One like the other So similar yet so different One is the enemy, the other a friend I hold a couple to set them right I pick a few more because I might get them all in and be done I had them all and then I had none A million little pieces of me Melting away Bit by bit Day by day A million little pieces of me So stubborn Shattered shiny broken blunt A million little pieces of me None like the other I put them somehow I put them together So different yet so similar Each one an enemy Each one a friend I held a couple right or wrong I picked them all, the fear was gone I got them all and I got done Where I had none, now I was ONE

Morbid Musing

And thus I drifted off with the wind high at first and then low down to the ground and there I lay .. Autumn had arrived.....

My terribly-tiny-tale :)

So I came across this page on Facebook called the terribly tiny tales. I absolutely loved the idea! I really think it's a talent to convey a story in just a few lines. Especially, if you are a person of as many many many and many words that I am, you'd really appreciate how these people have conveyed so much in so little words. I mean, if I could have it my way, I'd probably call it the delightfully tiny tales. Genius!  I had once written a story for my school magazine which was inspired from something I had read much earlier on as a kid. Anywayyy, I thought I should try telling that in a "delightfully-tiny" way.. so here goes nothing! ;) She knew she had fallen in love with him the moment she had set eyes on him. She also knew that he loved her more than she did.  She didn't think twice before making plans with her friends, knowing in her heart that he'd be waiting for her as always.  She would talk and he would listen.  She smiled, and he was ...

Girl-Decoded.. ermm.. Yeah Right!!

I am a feminist. In every sense of the word. I am a feminist. Period. No, I do not think women make for "better" halves or belong to the "fairer" sex. I just think women are as good as men are. Gender equality is what I believe in. No frills attached. Yet, I do feel there are certain things women are better at, as compared to the men. They do make for better organizers, have more patience, more endurance, more of so many things. Women are special. Not because they are delicate lil things. They are special because in one lifetime they take on a multitude of roles and are expected to excel at each of them and being the feminist that I am, I would love to give all the ladies a standing ovation for just being a lady. It's not easy, yet we do it in style! So, the question really is.. If women are all so good and all so fine.. why in God's name is there so much of a fuss about how women are difficult to handle, are confused, complex, unreasonable, hard to pl...

Acknowledgement ;)

Today, I submitted my dissertation and as is the case with these official documents, one is supposed to put in a section, where the people who contributed to the completion of this majorly annoying task, are acknowledged for their support. Some people of course are just supposed to feature there, as a part of "the protocol".. but yeah, the others you genuinely thank. Your good teachers, your family, God and so on..  Now, even though I mentioned briefly my friends' contibution, I obviously couldn't fill up the pages with friend-specific-thank-you(s).. so I thought what better way than to pen it down here..  Bachpan Ke Chaddi-Buddies:- Shravan : For standing by me through thick and thin, for hearing things which have no relevance for you, except that they are related to me. For making me believe that I could pull this off. For making me smile even when I was absolutely determined not to! You are my best friend for life! You make life easy .. Every.Single.Day. M...
