what's going on with the house???

So what's up in the new house??? we planned out some wall colors and cooked/ate dinner on our patio furniture in the living room (remind you of Friends... he he he) on Friday night.

Saturday a few friends came over to see the house and we all ate brats and pasta salad together discussing plans for the house. Then we started taking down all the chair rail and base boards and taking out the doors in the upstairs rooms... (we're refinishing the floors otherwise the baseboards would have stayed...)

I've been painting for three days (sun-tues - I actually took today off), but tomorrow and Friday will be full of painting as well!!!

So far we have the upstairs bathroom complete (but the toilet tank is still in the bath tub so can't take the picture of that room until we put that back on...) Also the what will be guest bedroom is done being painted as well...

3 walls of our bedroom are done, and the lower 3rd of the extra room too... had to wait until the big 30% off sale at Sherwin Williams to buy more paint (if it wasn't spring break I would have waited for those OTHER 5 gallons I bought... but I couldn't wait until Thursday of my break to START painting...)

The plan for the rest of the weeks painting is to get the second color in our bedroom and the extra room, and all the closet and entry doors for the upstairs...

And the work begins...

So we started work on the house... prepping for painting to begin sunday...


Then we started playing with the color samples and created some LOVELY wall art... what do you think?

We cooked and ate dinner in the new place on Friday night... no furniture there yet, just patio chairs... All we need is a canoe and we're in a Friends episode!!! :)

WE BOUGHT A HOUSE!!!!

As of Yesterday at about 1:00pm, Jonathan and I are the proud new owners of a house in Carbonale!!!

Here we are signing the papers...!!! you sign your name A LOT!!! and they make you put your middle initial in there which threw me off... I had to THINK about how I was signing my name all the time and remember to put it in there... :)


More pictures to come... I'll try to keep you all updates as we paint and finish all our projects... we wont move in until sometime in may probably... but we've got a lot of painting and small projects on our list!

And so begins student Teaching!

So I had my first official day of student teaching today.

It was a lot of observation, but I get to start teaching at leas tone class next week. Getting acclimated to the class, learning the kids names, and getting all the ins and outs of how Mr. Kidd does his thing so I can try to seamlessly transition into his spot...

All in all, he's a great guy, understands that I've already had my own classroom and is ok with that. Gives me credit for what I've done and has confidence that I'll do a good job with it all! I helped him get all caught up with his grading today, and All that is turned in is graded! Just in time for mid-quarter review to go out Wednesday! (think he was real appreciative of that!)

Yes it's been a year...

So it's been a year almost since my last post...

A lot has happened - I've finished all the classes for my graduate degree, now I'm hoping to find a student teaching placement soon so I can finish this school year instead of waiting until next fall for placement...

Finding placement has been a nightmare, BUT I think I found a solution! I found a local private school that fits all the requirements AND they've worked with a UOP student teacher before... PROMISING!!! Now I just got to get the ball rolling with UOP to get all the necessary paperwork and such done... KEEP YOUR FINGERS CROSSED FOR ME!

I'll keep you all (don't know if anyone even reads this) updated as soon as I know more...

A birthday past

Last Saturday was my 26th b-day... I went bowling AGAIN this year... I think I'm going to make it a tradition... Because we all had SOOO much fun! I would love to go bowling more often, but no one ever wants to go, and it is a bit expensive to go all the time... so I'll make it an annual birthday tradition!

Leslie came to visit me too which was AWESOME!!! I'm only sad she couldn't stay longer...

I'm not dead...

Hello all, I'm not dead, just busy...

I have been doing so much with School and with School... it seems like I might go crazy sometimes...

Let me give you all a taste of what I've been dealing with recently with regards to group work...

So a group member posts a "paper" on discipline in schools for our current project. I notice, there are no citations or references listed... I mention this fact and he replies, ooohhh, I'll list my references and re post... TWO DAYS LATER, the same "paper" is posted, still no citations, but three web sites listed at the bottom - www.teacherinfo.com, www.phoenix/library/schooldiscipline.edu (this site doesn't even exist) and www.drphil.com...

Now I know Dr Phil is a Dr and all... but COME ON.... AND To top it all off, he didn't even reference the specific story or episode where the information came from on either teacherinfo or drphil... just the main website...

(This is all coming the week after I had to tell my group member wikipedia is not a reputable source...)

I feel like I'm working with idiots, they are worse than my high school students!!!

enough ranting... just wanted to let you all know I'm still around... and it's situations like these that keep me from posting!
