Hannah

Hannah's step mom called me and asked if we had a picture of Barb and Hannah. Hannah said she had never seen a picture with her mom. She was 9 weeks old when her mom passed away in an car accident.  I knew I didn't have one. I contacted Lorinda, Barbs sister in law. She survived the accident, but her baby did not. Since she was living in Yuba City and she and Barb hung out, I figured she might be able to help.  Here are Lorinda and Barb.  And here is Hannah.  And here is the picture that she wants. Barb and Hannah.  I look forward to posting Hannah and Glenna Kay soon.  We went to the cemetery and found the graves.  Funny how grief can lay low and then pop up it's head and let all the pain in again. There is no time limit.  Barb's going to be a grandma... Life is a journey... I believe in Angels....

Two weeks...Two trips

Image
Last week we went to California for a class reunion for Wes.  I didn't attend, but he went with a friend and talked to everyone. I stayed with Allison and cross stitched while she crocheted.  I love seeing the rice fields, almost ready to harvest. The Feather River Temple is beautiful and filled with old friends.  I don't know where they got the Olive trees, but they are beautiful.  This week we went to Hannah's baby shower. I'm so proud of her and the work she had done to heal her soul.  As slong as we were in Utah, we finally found Hawaiian donuts. They were good but let's face it, they taste better on a warm night with a tropical breeze.  We then stopped at Temple Square .  It was so nice to see the Temple without it's scaffolding.  It was a beautiful day. The new visitors center is a win.  This quilt is beautiful.  ...

September 7th

Image
September 7th is the day my mom passed away. The 38th day from when my dad passed away. I have all ready said that this time period is hard. And it is.  Callie and Spencer came for a visit. We had a pool party.  And we introduced her to the Cozy Coup. She had a great time getting in and out. Pushing a button to pretend start it. Bringing her toys on a ride. I don't know who created this little toy, but it has been a joy to my kids and grands.  When I sat down at the end of the day I found a Giants game on TV. To me, it was a miracle. We never get the Giants. They did not disappoint....lost it at the end.  It very much felt like a gift from heaven.  Family is the best.... Blessing at the the end .... Love the weather.....

Top 5 Summer Days

Image
As we creep into September, I thought I would celebrate the Summer.  1.  I had my family all together. It just doesn't get better than that.  2. Oak Island North Carolina. A great couple of days at the beach.  3. The Quilt Museum in Paducah KY. Seeing the work of Tula was beautiful and Inspiring.  4.  Glacier National Park. If you only get one National Park, it might as well be Glacier. Just beautiful.  5. FIFA....it didn't work out like we'd planned, but you know what? Laura and I had a great week in Atlanta. We saw some amazing things. And I loved FIFA this year. I watched and listened to so many games. I yelled at the TV multiple times. I still love Messi.  Spain in four years?  Could be.  It was hot. Everywhere we went was hot. But I felt the blessings of God.  Safe journeys... Scott's job.... Temple blessings.... Air Conditioning.... Sweet grandkids.... Hum...

Another Week with the Squirt

Image
I spent a couple of days with Betty. She adjusted well.  She liked her Gabby and cats.  We practiced sliding. And she loves flowers. These are from Callie's garden. She planted them from seeds. They are beautiful.  It's hard to believe she might move away but I believe that your kids should find their own path, no matter where it is.  I came home to some hot Summer days. Wes is back to work. Scott got a job. I'm so glad. He needs to get out.  So I start my second year of retirement. I also wonder through these 38 days of grief. The 38 days between when my father passed away and when my mother passed away. Will it always hurt?  Maybe. I believe that grief is an emotion with no boundaries. It comes and goes as it pleases. You have to let it in and feel the feelings to heal.  Families are complicated.... It's okay to feel it.... Everyone needs a friend...

My Yard

Image
I love spending time taking care of my backyard. I always thought that everyone had a peaceful place to hangout in. My granddaughter asked why I have so many 'decorations'. I told her because my grandpa did. Make no mistake, my mother did not, but I love my little piece of heaven.    Behind the plant, that Martha, one of my favorite students gave me, is a little knome that Raona gave us.  He has survived 20 Winters out here.  I've been working on this area. We took out a big overgrown bush this year. I'm thinking a big ole fairy garden in this shady spot.  My deck. I eat breakfast here. I read here. I push all the furniture to the side and set up quilt frame to baste quilts here. I just bindeda quilt out here last week. It's definitely an extension of the house. In the Winter I like to sit at the kitchen table to work and look at it.  I have been trying different things here for years. It has paid ...

While We Were Gone

Image
As we were driving home last week there was a mass shooting in the Magic Valley.   We live 10 miles for the In and Out Burger in Twin Falls. My first thought was literally, Thank God it wasn't a school shooting. My next thought was, What is wrong with the world? How have we grown into a society that thinks that people shooting back at the gunman is a heroic deed? Why does anyone need an Assault Rifle? I am not certain that hunting for animals is necessary.  It is a sport but not a harvest. They can take care of their own population. Nature has it's way. So our community is healing. My Facebook page has had a few Go Fund Me's for shooting victims.   My heart is broken for the family of Ashley, who was from Stockton California. Can you imagine sending your daughter to Twin Falls, whose yearly murder rate is about a months murder rate in Stockton and having her shot and killed at the drive through window?   It is who we are. It happened, here, and w...
