MAO Watch Along for Final Episode of the Season
While a new season has yet to be announced for MAO the upcoming final episode (episode 26) will have a pre-recorded watch party with Yuki Kaji (Mao), Natsumi Kawaida (Nanoka) and Momoko Terasawa (Otoya) where the three regulars will watch the final episode together. The Rumiko Takahashi Fantasy Manga Award Announced

Shonen Sunday is promoting the "Sunday Cultural Festival" this week and as part of the overall celebrations they announced the newly created "Rumiko Takahashi Fantasy Manga Award" (高橋留美子ファンタジー漫画賞/Takahashi Rumiko Fantajii Mangashou).

The details state "With Rumiko Takahashi-sensei as the head judge, Sunday presents a new manga award. The only requirement is that the work contains at least one element of fantasy. Powerful characters, abilities, world-building... Yes, fill your work with your imagination and submit your entry!"

Takahashi added her own comments stating, "Fantasy is a field with a great deal of freedom. It is the author themselves, who believes in their own world, who gives credibility to what might be considered tall tales. Believe in your free imagination and characters, and enjoy working on your creation. And don't forget the effort and ingenuity to convey that enjoyment to your readers. Good luck! Sumire Uesaka Threatened
Yesterday, Voice Kit, the agency that represents Sumire Uesaka, the voice of Lum in the recent adaptation of Urusei Yatsura revealed that it had received multiple malicious threatening emails, including threats of harm addressed to the actress. One comment read "We will kidnap and kill her by September 27th with multiple people," and suggests that the kidnapping will take place near her home. Source: Oricon

Inuyasha Fan Book Sengoku Otogizoshi Announced
Rumiko Takahashi had been dropping hints that an Inuyasha-related announcement was coming soon and in keeping with the November releases of the past two years (Urusei Yatsura: Dancing Star and Ranma 1/2: Great Joy) a similar book for Inuyasha was likely. Ranma 1/2 Season 3 Advance Screening and Talk
Kappei Yamaguchi (山口勝平), Noriko Hidaka (日髙のり子) and Koichi Yamadera (山寺宏一) will all be hosting an afternoon (12:00 pm) and evening (5:30 pm) advance screening of episode 25 and 26 from season 3 of Ranma 1/2 along with a talk between the actors. Japanese Comedian Guest Starring in Ranma 1/2
The comedian Seiya (せいや) from the comedy group Shimofuri Myojo (霜降り明星) has been named as the brand ambassador for the third season of Ranma 1/2 in addition to voicing an unnamed character in the upcoming season. Seiya states in a press release, "My love for the series led me to become a promotional ambassador! I'm Seiya!

I've been watching the new anime since the first season as a fan, so I'm incredibly honored to be given this important role as a "promotional ambassador."

Charity Auction for African Children

The Japanese charity PLAS (Positive Living through AIDS orphan Support) is currently holding a series of charity auctions to help support AIDS treatment for children in Africa. Rumiko Takahashi has donated a drawing of Inuyasha to help raise money for the charity. Takahashi-sensei commented, "I would be happy if I could be of even a little help to the children." Other items include Sara Takanahashi's (髙梨沙羅) autographed ski goggles, a jersey signed by figure skater Satoko Miyahara (宮原知子) and a signed hat and shirt autographed by photgrapher Mitsuaki Iwago (岩合光昭). A Cryptic Inuyasha Tweet from Takahashi-Sensei
Rumiko Takahashi made a tweet with an image of Inuyasha and Kagome and said "three months until release". Though nothing has been confirmed yet, this would fall in line with the release of the "fan books" Urusei Yatsura: Dancing Star and Ranma 1/2: Great Joy which came out in November of 2024 and November of 2025 respectively as this is Inuyasha's 30th anniversary as well. Michael Donovan Passes Away
Tremendously saddened to hear of the passing of Michael Donovan, the voice of Ryoga Hibiki in Ranma 1/2, Suikotsu in Inuyasha, Cye and Sage in Ronin Warriors and so many of other cartoons and anime dating back to the 1980s. Mr. Donovan passed away on March 4th and SAG-AFTRA reported his passing today. Source: Ian Corlette's Instagram

MAO Blu-Ray Boxsets 1 and 2 Announced
The MAO Blu-ray boxsets for part 1 and 2 have been annouced to be released on November 27th and December 23rd respectively. The sets will include an original illustration by Rumiko Takahashi, original drawings and setting materials and a bonus disc of event footage, plus an original soundtrack CD. The illustration on the boxset of volume 1 is by character designer Yoshihito Hishinuma. Source: Anime-Mao.com
