The Energize Connecticut Green STEP summer program recently celebrated the graduation of more than 50 high school students, equipping them with hands-on skills and industry-recognized certifications for careers in energy efficiency and green building trades. This three-week, paid-to-train experience, supported by Eversource and Avangrid subsidiaries, offered students practical training, work-readiness courses, and direct connections to local employers through a career expo at Yale University. With options to specialize in Weatherization & Existing Building Upgrades or Green Building & New Construction, participants gained valuable technical knowledge and career preparation. Green STEP continues to invest in Connecticut’s clean energy future by preparing the next generation of skilled professionals.

Eversource electric customers can now schedule a no-cost pickup and receive a $75 rebate for recycling a working refrigerator or freezer. Recycle a working dehumidifier at the same time and earn an additional $30 rebate. UI customers will be able to participate later this year.  Lower your energy use, save on your electric bill and help protect the environment all from the comfort of your home. Schedule your pickup today.

Have an inefficient dehumidifier taking up space? The Sponsors of Energize Connecticut make it easy to recycle it responsibly at scheduled drop‑off events across the state.
Recycling your dehumidifier helps save energy, protects the environment, and ensures harmful materials are properly handled. Check the schedule to find a convenient location and date near you.
